Orendorf El School

The elementary program provides a decent education, but as students move toward middle school and high school the academic expectations decline rapidly. The staff and faculty are "nice," but several of the elementary teachers do not even have teaching degrees. The principal has no training in elementary matters and is unable to ensure that things in that level are up to par.Comments made by the principal include the following: "Parents don't send their children here for the academics. They send them here for the family environment." "On a scale of 1:10, most of our teachers are 7's. We'd really like everyone to be about an 8." Some additional things to consider about any school would be how the curriculum is used in the classroom on a daily basis as opposed to what is simply displayed at an open house, what percentage of it is actually completed in the school year, and how frequently an administrator observes the teachers teaching and evaluates them while teaching.
