I had quite a few issues with Pequea while I attended. The curriculum is ridiculously easy, and the teachers absolutely baby people. Didn’t turn in an assignment due a month ago? Turn it in now for full credit. Not to mention the classes were so mindless that I did not study once yet had an A- average. Bullying runs rampant at Pequea. The teachers will watch it happen. The popular students, who are typically the perpetrators, are praised by teachers and never punished, even when they are caught doing things. If you are not a straight, fit, attractive person, people will come for your neck. This is probably an issue in every highschool in America though. At my time in Pequea, it was not very cliquey considering the school was so small. You were either in, out, or trying to be in. I fell into the ladder. The biggest issue I have with this school is the terrible guidance department and college readiness. The guidance team does nothing to help you pick an area of study and almost act as if you are a nuisance to them by going to see them. I was never helped in choosing a college major. They make you do an online survey to see what jobs 15 year old you would fit in to and that’s about it. Extracurriculars are abysmal. You can choose from sports, yearbook, art club, FFA, FBLA and maybe a few niche ones they decide to try out for a year. All in all, if you plan on going into the work force after graduating, this school is for you. If you plan on getting a secondary education, AVOID.

PV school district is all talk and appearance and fails the students in the classroom. Teachers use purchased online curriculum and "packets" rather than teaching, the coursework is routine busywork and not engaging, and the students are not prepared when they enter college. The administration is much more concerned with telling everyone about the laptops and the sports program than any actual education on the part of the students. The high school English, science, and math departments are pathetic. The ag program is excellent, as is the music program. The district receives almost twice the state funding for the students due to so many Amish, Mennonite, and homeschoolers in the area, and they still cannot do an adequate job. Their issues are not lack of funds or high poverty rates in the district, as they like to blame everything, but rather a lack of leadership and motivation on the part of the teachers. The district talks constantly about the high poverty rate in the student body, but then lowers the curriculum and expectations rather than giving those kids what they need to rise beyond their current circumstances. All staff pick favorites among the students and ignore the others, and the favorites are the athletes and the children of the school board. Trying to deal with this district has been many years of frustration and disappointment. Our children are thriving academically and vocationally despite the limitations of this district as we had to go around, above, and beyond to equip our children with the skills that they needed for college and life - even "teaching" English at home with book list and writing to correct what was lacking from the school. Bullying is very much alive in PV and is ignored by the administration even after bones are broken on the playground. I can't say enough about how disappointed and disgusted we have been with this district.

Disgraceful at best, for parents and students who desire to learn and excel stay away. I’ve never seen such a lack of teachers who take their job seriously instead of just a paycheck.

My experience as a parent of 2 children who graduated from Pequea Valley school district after attending all 13 years was great. Many things have happened since the earlier reviews on here from years ago, and Pequea Valley school district has improved thanks to upgrades in technology, flexible learning and our one-to-one laptop program for all students in 5-12th grade. This levels the playing field for all kids, regardless of economic background. The administration is truly passionate about creating a great learning environment to prepare students for life after high school, whether it be at college or joining the workforce.
