love the school its very interactive with the students

My son had a difficult Senior year adjusting to the Zoom Class environment. Prior to his Senior year, he was a 3.0 Student. He fell behind in his SR year and thank God for people like Mr. Barr and Dr. Barker for stepping up to help students who had problems with the Covid way of life. DHS is ranked #53 out of the 842 High Schools in PA for a reason. Our leaders care for all of our children. When I read a couple students feedback, I felt badly for them based on their experience at DHS. Even if 1 student has a bad experience, it’s too many. Their feedback matters and I know the DHS Leadership takes this seriously. I truly am sorry to the few students who had a less than desirable experience. What I do know with certainty is that Colleges and higher education institutions, recognize DHS with high distinction. At a minimum, you have that on your side and the DHS Community is rooting for you in your next journey…..

I honestly had a terrible experience at this school and it made me depressed. I couldn’t sleep and I felt like I had no motivation to do anything except wish to go home. At first I used to come home crying, but now I’m used to feeling terrible so it’s just nice to leave now. Although it is nice seeing how wonderful my grades are it still doesn’t feel like I deserved it and I’m not sure I am going to be prepared for college. Every class here was a breeze and I’m not sure I know how to actually work hard. I have amazing friends, but I met them before I started attending this school so I can’t really give them credit for that. Then one thing that always bothered me is that they blamed their problem on the parents and not themselves. This school could be an amazing place for students if they just paid a little more attention and changed some of their ways. Part of me wishes I did Cyber school so that I wouldn’t have to deal with this place. My cyber classes were honestly the only classes I occasionally had to put work in and I didn’t have to deal with all of the disrespect.

The district just does not care about West, only Stem. West keeps falling behind. Teachers are burned out.

My children have attended Downingtown elementary, middle, and West high school. The teachers and staff have consistently shown a combined effort to bring out the best in the students. The school district has high standards allowing each child to succeed. As a parent I am very happy with the school district.
