Danville Area Middle School

Most of the teachers at Danville Middle School are excellent but the leadership of the school and the district is incompetent. Two of my kids (both high achievers and intelligent) had bullying problems at Danville Middle School. The teachers were able to deal with the individual incidents but the same kids engaged in bullying in different classes over the course of the school year. I will disagree with the previous reviewer who thinks that only children of physicians are intelligent. There are plenty of children at DMS who are getting an excellent education and scoring high on state tests who are not the children of doctors. My third child will start at DMS in the fall. If the bullying issues are not resolved we will transfer her to a charter school.

If you are a parent who spends an inordinate amount of time encouraging your child to learn above and beyond, then your child will do fine here. However, be forewarned-- the teaching and administration is substandard at best. Thankfully, there are a small select group of physician's/medical professional children whom your child can socialize with whereby they will have peers who are of similar mindset with respect to school. These are the students who likely raise the test scores for the district due to their innate ability. Otherwise, the school system would be sorely lacking.

Offering a broad spectrum of classes to meet the needs of every student from academically gifted to special needs. Small enough to be personable to each student but large enough to offer a variety of classes. Wonderful interaction with parents. Prepares students for on-going education without them having difficulty in that transition.

Danviille Middle School is a great school. It has many activities for students to do. The lunch is great with slushies, and snack bars. Also there is every month a free ice cream bar day from the ice cream stand. The teachers are very nice and teach everything they can in an understanding way. As a student at DMS i love i here and i wouldnt want to leave
