Avella Area Junior-Senior High School

As an alum from this school I know from personal experience that the small classroom sizes help the teacher make the one-on-one connections better. This helps the students learn and if there is a problem academically or personally the teachers will help the student the best that they can. The school as a whole comes together when tragic or happy events occur. I personally wouldn't trade my high school experience for another one. The teachers in this district are a part of the reason why I am studying to become a teacher myself.

I graduated from Avella school went on to college Had great job. My two children graduated from Avella. Went to college and now have great responsible jobs Never had any diffculity getting into college or getting a good education from Avella. And this happened from 1945 to 1982. And now I know others in Avella school now that are still getting a good eduction. This is why smaller schools have fewer children in each class and teachers can relate to each student.

I moved into Avella in 6th grade and graduated from Avella School District. Prior to moving here, I was doing poorly in a large school. I graduated with decent grades and loved the small school experience. So when my daughter, who is ADHD and PDD, was of age, we moved back to the Avella School District so she could get the individual attention. I'm so happy with we did! The teachers are great with her, she's in 2nd grade with A/B grades and we've not needed any special assistance. The AEC (our version of the PTA) works very hard at bringing quality programs and events to the kids. The administration is wonderful at communicating with parents and keeps a very positive atmosphere in the school.

Great teachers and staff! Smaller class sizes allow for more one on one teaching. Smaller size also allows for kids to be in more organizations and clubs.

Small School - has a lot of positives. Everyone is considered and known not just by a number or passing face in the hall. Teachers care about their students and are easily made aware of any issues they need to be
