Sheridan Japanese Scholl is the best!! I feel blessed to send my Child to his second family each and every day.... He has gained so much from his seven years at SJS. The academics are outstanding and his education includes respect, giving back, interaction with younger kids, and teaching by example... This school is one of a kind it is truly a gift to and honor to have my child be part of the wonder life as a SJS student. Thank you to all staff for all the longer hours and love you give to our children every day. You are the best, and we as parents are honored to have you in our children s life as their mentors, teachers and friends.

Best education and overall experience of my life. The staff and students became like family to me and I have maintained those connections 20 years later. They truly have revolutionized education to be effective and rewarding.

We agree with previous reviews. This school was once good, but now it is confused. Other schools seem to be handling the new charter school laws in a positive way and offering clear supportive solutions to parents (Fossil, OpenEd, even Silvies!). This school is constantly changing to the point no one knows what is going on! If you question anything, you are met with an authoritarian bullying attitude! It’s unbelievable that this is the same school we joined not long ago. Unprofessional! What happened?We had a good experience with a teacher, but even they are confused. Things change day-to-day. The online live teaching days seem to be over and kids now just watch terrible videos and answer questions, then have to take boring assessments that don’t match the standards. Glad there are more charters out there.

What used to be a supportive learning environment has turned to a toxic place. This school’s disorganization, rigidness, and gruff communication style is a constant source of stress. Be warned- what was once a supportive stipend for families to purchase learning materials for their homeschool journey under the supervision of their mentor teacher has turned into a smaller, more rigid “curriculum reimbursement.” You can choose to purchase your own curriculum (must be approved curriculum by school) or use the school’s generic, boring canvas classes, Edgenuity, PuzzleEd, iReady, etc (aka busy work). If you choose your own curriculum then you must send the school SIXTEEN work samples PER SUBJECT, PER CHILD. This is in addition to all of the parent-mentor meetings, iReady testing, State testing, attendance (Child must email teacher twice a week- even tech-free families and children with disabilities), etc etc… the list never ends, they just keep raising expectations of parents (without any support) and adding more chaos and confusion. Glad there are other charter options in Oregon!
