Read what parents are saying about George Middle SchoolChaotic. The kids run the place, even with experienced teachers trying their absolute best.
Posted by a community member on 1/28/2024This place is 100x better than Ockley Green or Astor but it still sucks.

Posted by a parent on 1/20/2023My children have loved their teachers here
Posted by a parent on 8/23/2022My children are enrolled in the school as the DLI program from elementary feeds into it. Our experience is not unique, sometimes our children struggle as this is a challenging time in adolescence. I do feel that a school is only as good as the parent involvement/support and this school is no different except that it serves many low-income families. I am proud that my white children truly know what racial equity and inclusion looks like and can walk their talk.

N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageOur child came here from Montessori school. It was a huge learning curve as Holy Cross is more rigorous and demands a lot out of their children. We have seen huge growth in the areas most concerned with (reading and math), and these folks were ON IT in regards to the pandemic. Although a difficult time for all, they hired a consultant on remote learning to help direct how to effectively teach in this unprecedented time. As a family with two full time parents the school worked hard to provide balance between academic standards and demands being placed on parents. We are not Catholic, but happy that we had a community to support us and rally around all the kids to instill hope in a scary time. We are not lower income, but thrilled we put our child in a Title 1 supported school (we had no idea going in what this meant), as the "forced" tutoring ("we are notifying you that your child is behind in ____ and we have set up for them to receive tutoring / summer school"). We are not POC, but grateful our child is part of a school that fosters cultural diversity (NONE at her montessori school). For those concerned about affording this school, they provide various financial assistance and have a huge donation closet of uniforms. Principal and teachers don't mince words, so if you are a parent that needs sugar coating or reassuring your child is doing okay, it may be a tough adjustment. This is a small school who's heart extends way past the walls of their lovingly outdated building (no AC, but again, may be part of their character building program ;). Highly recommend you checking this school out for your child.Parent Review2y ago
