Read what parents are saying about Findley Elementary Schoolvery very bad and boring and unsafe and everyone is mean
Posted by a community member on 1/8/2024Highly recommended. Some old reviews criticized that the high test score is due to "parents pushing kids" but things have changed from my experience as of 2023. The staff and teachers CARE about teaching and communicate a lot with parents. They host a lot of fun events for the neighborhoods as well. BBQ, Fall festival and parades so far this year. They help kids learn in a fun environment. I'm lucky my son's class has only 21 kids so the teacher-student ratio is great. He is a little bit emotional at the beginning of K but school provided a lot of support and communicated with us consistently. I didn't expect this much care and support before he started K. So far I am loving the school and will give them 5 stars for sure.
Posted by a parent on 10/23/2023Stalwart staff at this school that sets the benchmark for transparency with parents. Findley is led by strong servant-leadership from the top (Principal), and tenured admin and teacher staff who bring many years of experience and diversity to their craft. We are blessed to have Dr. Sherry Marsh as principal. She not only is clear in her approach, but she is hands-on anywhere that's required. I saw her serving as replacement duty at the crosswalk the other day in freezing rain conditions. I've seen this and other servant-leadership actions in her throughout her tenure at Findley. Every school faces unique challenges that a balancing act in today's world. I think the team at Findley do a phenomenal job that is a model for many to follow. Couldn't be happier to send my two kids through their program.
Posted by a parent on 3/2/2023Strong support for all learners. We don’t send our kids to weekend or after school learning - they play sports and do outside activities but they still do very well. Lots of complaints about affluence in the surrounding area - yes, there are many engineers, tech folks and executives in the Findley neighborhood and we all care deeply about our kids and so it comes out in what we prioritize. If you don’t prioritize learning and achievement maybe don’t go to a school that prioritizes that. The principal, specialist staff and most teachers are excellent.

9/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageWhat our family liked about this school: diversity in culture and ethnicity in the student body, and overall caring teachers and staff. As a parent of a SPED student, however, I absolutely had to advocate much more strongly than expected for my child's needs (much more than at other schools); and I have heard similar experiences from other parents in the community. My child's outside specialists had a conversation with various school staff at one point and told me they could discern that that members of the SPED team likely had not even read up on my child's condition. Additionally, I was less than thrilled with some of the very strong and sometimes pushy personalities of district staff and specialists that were assigned to the team. Overall I am recommending this school, as it may be an ideal school for families of typically developing children who naturally lean toward high achievement, but our experience was that it was not the best thing for our particular child.Parent Review6mo ago - Bethany Village Montessori

N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThis review is not about their education but about their character based on our limited interaction. Our house is right across MSB and we got used to traffic during pick up/drop off times and people parking in our driveway. No biggy.. we understand as we have 7 yo ourself. Recently we started to have their garbage truck coming at 5.30am and standing on their property for 20-30min with loud music and engine running. It is summer time and our windows are open so it wakes us up. I shared my concern with their custodian and asked if he can contact garbage company to stop doing that. His response was - why dont you do it yourself…Maybe it is a good school but definitely not a nice neighbor. If someone tell this to me - i would be apologetic and try to fix it ASAP. I guess this might not be a representation on their staff and program but it definitely reflects on their HR and hiring practicesOther Review1y ago - St Pius X School

N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageWe have been involved with St Pius for a while. While the school started out great many years ago, it has not been good since we got new administration. It was a great place before. I felt it was much more co-creative and the teachers liked actually working there. The school is very cliquey and we've seen many turnovers of parents leaving. For the past few years, turnover has also been high for staff and morale seems to be very low. There are better private schools in the area with staff that cares about both the students and the parents.Parent Review2y ago - Portland Chinese School
