This was the worst experience and the worst principle we have ever dealt with! My kids are still traumatized from 2023-2024

We have two kids at Beach and have had wonderful teachers along the way. We are in the dual language program and have seen incredible progress with our kids. They have lots of support for helping kids with their reading skills beyond just their teachers. There are tons of involved parents that truly care about the community.

Holy Redeemer Grade school truly stands out as a place where students are nurtured not just academically, but as whole individuals. What makes the school especially remarkable is its deeply caring community. Teachers, staff, and families work together to create an environment where every child feels seen, supported, and valued. There’s a genuine sense of kindness and compassion that reflects the school’s faith-centered mission in everyday interactions.The school also embraces diversity in a meaningful and enriching way. Students come from a variety of cultural, social, and academic backgrounds, and that diversity is celebrated through inclusive practices, curriculum choices, and community events. Children learn early on the importance of respect, empathy, and understanding others—skills that will serve them well throughout their lives.Academically, the school offers strong educational opportunities that challenge and inspire students. From core subjects to enrichment programs like art, music, and technology, there is a clear commitment to helping each student reach their full potential. Teachers are dedicated and attentive, often going above and beyond to tailor instruction and encourage growth. My child was behind in reading when we entered and they scheduled her with a reading specialist and within 2 months she was meeting grade level. Another highlight is the constant variety of activities available to students. Whether it’s extracurricular clubs, service projects, sports, or school-wide events, there is always something happening to keep students engaged and excited. These activities not only make school enjoyable but also help build confidence, leadership skills, and a strong sense of community.Overall, this Catholic grade school provides a well-rounded, supportive, and vibrant environment where children can thrive academically, socially, and spiritually.

My daughter, now first grade, loves Holy Cross, and so do we! We started her in Pre-K two years ago, and I thought it was especially unique in that they get to experience electives like all the other students, like P.E., music, library (with weekly checkouts), and technology time (learning the basics of computers). The faculty and staff are so welcoming and caring, and because is a small school, is a lot more like a family. Older kids look out for the littles, and the Parents' Association works hard at building community. Teachers are great at identifying building confidence, holding a safe space for kids, and providing opportunities for children to exercise responsibility. It is truly a great place for a kid to be academically-challenged while learning to be a good, kind human.

Poor academics. My kids spent two years here doing nothing but waiting for the day to end. They told me they were bored. The school is not inclusive. They actively push out kids who require special education. They point fingers at parents of kids with special needs. They harm kids who need the most help. This should not even be a school. We spent four years trying to undo the trauma they caused to our family. What they did to my child caused life long trauma. Do not send your kid here.

The teachers and families here are absolutely wonderful. It runs a bit like a co-op in terms of school programming, but I find the education, life skills, and creativity cultivated here to be a stand out. They have embodied a really mindful education and families and students are happy and kind. If you are looking for a gentle, arts-based education this is a fantastic option in the Portland area. People in my two kids grades actually make some very long commutes to come here. The kids are joyous and love their school and classmates. They are rooted in storytelling, caring values, and artistic community. I cannot say enough wonderful compliments about the teachers. They are attentive, kind, creative, inspiring activists who love what they do and are incredibly generous.
