Read what parents are saying about Shasta Middle SchoolI volunteer at Shasta, and know a lot of the students, families, and school staff involved. Everything about Shasta blows me away! The staff at the school genuinely care for their students and want them to succeed. The administration is phenomenal. The choir and band programs and their directors are amazing. This is how a public middle school should be — the shortcomings are due to budget constraints, not due to staff at all. I am proud to be involved with Shasta, and when I have my own kids I would love to send them here. Shasta is the gold standard. (All of this not even considering how much the staff has gone out of their way to support kids and their families during the pandemic, which goes above and beyond even more than they already do)
Posted by a community member on 7/8/2020Best middle school band program in Eugene! Best principal in Eugene! Great Schools needs to check its sources ... ask around - Shasta jazz band is number one in Eugene and one of the top in state. My son is safe and loved at Shasta. Principal knows every student by name! What better learning environment than one where the teachers and administrators are cognizant of your child's needs - that happens here. Choosing Shasta was great for our son.
Posted by a community member on 8/18/2016My son attends Shasta and we have been very happy with the quality of teachers and their commitment to student success. The new principal is great and is very involved in getting the 5th graders at the feeder elementary schools ready to come to Shasta and working with the 9th graders preparing for High School. The music progam is amazing with multiple bands and choirs for the students to join. The 6th graders are kept separate from the 7th and 8th graders. My son's only complaint is too much homework. There is always help available and the teachers are dedicated to helping every student succeed. The budget cuts across the state have reduced the number of school days which puts pressure on everyone. The Bethel Bond measure will be providing much needed new computers, books and building improvements.

Now, he is being harassed by teaching staff and coming home in tears from adults cruel words. Not ok.Parent Review5y ago - Irving Elementary School

7/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageFor all parents with children that struggle with any neurological diversity, please consider any other option. Of a parent with 2 children that suffered from ADHD, scensory processing disorder, type 1 diabetes and more it was awful! Over 5 years with students with Special Needs at that school 0 progress 0 support for the family my children's progress was degressing, they fell so far behind and we spent our days trying to undo the triggers they had to endure every single day at that school. They did well with my son whom does not have special needs...so I guess there is that. We are in ORCA now both children excelling rapidly and finally after years of crying our family feels supported, cared for and encouraged. There are just a few exceptional teachers left at Irving and we will forever be grateful for the kindness and dedication they showed. Other than that this school does nothing but disservice to families of children with special needs. As far as sone of the support staff shame on you for putting money above children as I now know that has become your job.Parent Review1y ago - Malabon Elementary School

4/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageIt's a pretty good school in my experience.I've been going here since 1st grade and not much big problems. Now, our experiences with this school might not be the same but I've gotten really nice teachers. My mom and dad likes this school as much as I do and I recommend to try it out first, you and your child (a student like me) may feel different feelings on the school. Make sure to check in with your child often to see how they feel about it overtime. If you think your child is having a hard time, possibly ask them whats going on or try to comfort them. Try this school out! It's pretty good!Student Review1y ago - Prairie Mountain School

4/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThis school is an issue. A walking hypocrisy. Terrible administration and leadership. My daughter was bullied all year. My daughter verbally stood up for herself by placing boundaries for herself and they called ME but no parents were called when she was bullied. She was cyber bullied, girls rallied against her, she was made fun of every day, told she was ugly and annoying and stinky, on and on! At the end of the year two girls put their hands on her. NOTHING was done. Students are allowed to wear furry outfits (like dress as an animal) to school, and in class. But you know what isn’t allowed? Hats. Where’s the equality? I will NEVER put my child in Prairie Mountain again. The education is also terrible. Everything they learned academically is years behind and the structure makes no sense. Homeschool, private school, or find another public school. Avoid this one at all costs. Protect your children.Parent Review1y ago - Howard Elementary School
