Best school I've ever experienced. Amazing teachers and extracurricular activities

With the new principal, it is very different now. I was very surprised how dismissive, rude, and accusatorial she was to parents. She made it clear that her role to do her "administrative" duties was more important than dealing with parents and kids....even kids who were getting bullied.I have had 4 children go through MRE. It used to be administratively run well. The parent and student concerns were always fairly, easily and compassionately resolved. The teachers are good.Can we get rid of this principal?

Its a wonderful school for any child who doesn't need extra help. If your child requires special help or attention, be prepared to fully advocate that yourself. They all seem too busy to notice.

My daughter went to this school. The bullying was off the charts. The parents were fighting. The school was trying to fire the Director. There were teachers who were trying to set up the director to get him fired. One day we got to school and there were news reporters everywhere. My daughter was jumped by two boys. One held her down while the other punched her repeatedly. Parents tried to get together to help the school with bullying. The school threatened the parents, for fear of sharing on social media, that the truth of the school would get out, when the parents were just trying to help. We pulled our daughter out of this school. She still has friends here and they say the school is just as imbalanced as ever. Never once were her academics discussed. It was a lot of drama beginning at the executive level. If you truly care about your kids experience and education, I would highly recommend looking at different schools.

Our experience started well in elementary, where we could choose curriculum as long as it met state standards. It felt supportive of homeschool families at first. Middle school was a turning point. Staff bullied my students, teachers went off-topic to share personal issues, and the special needs department lacked training and support. I saw an ES tell a parent to leave campus while they were trying to calm their anxious child. High school was even worse. ESs spoke to us condescendingly, and the principal always sided with staff without investigating. I never saw them oversee ES meetings or hold anyone accountable. This is no longer a charter school supporting homeschoolers. It now feels like a government-run program focused on funding over students. I would not recommend it, especially to families with special needs children.
