Read what parents are saying about Central Elementary SchoolMy two granddaughters attend this school and we have been very happy with the experience. My oldest enjoys the music and art classes and has grown her passion for reading with the AR reading program. The youngest got off to a great start in school and is looking forward to first grade. The staff and principal are involved in the school and participants at activities to show their support. Parent are quick to help the school by volunteering and supporting school activities and classrooms. We considered a private school before the oldest started kindergarten a few years ago but we opted to try public school and we could not be happier. Kudos to the teachers, staff, principal, parents and students at Central Elementary!
Posted by a parent on 8/12/2019They do not treat special needs children right. They only care about funding and do not help special needs children. They cut the programs kids need to strive in school. The teachers break FERPA and when the principle was advised of this she covered for them and lied. She does not communicate with parents either. I would never have moved to Yukon had I known this is how the school district is. Completely down hill and not worth the money to buy a house here for this kind of treatment.
Posted by a parent on 6/6/2015The principal is HORRIBLE! If you have a special needs child please don't take them to this school. My special needs child was treated horrible and we ended up being bullied into moving.
Posted by a parent on 4/21/2014They don't care at all about gifted students. My step son is in the first grade and can read at a third grade level. Central doesn't do the gifted program for 1st. grade. So he has to be bored in class because they don't care. He first grade teacher is horrible. I wish we could move him into another school.

9/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageGod forbid you be a divorcing parent of a student at this school. Teachers will only contact one person the office staff will gossip about you right in front of you. If I could I'd pull my child out of this school without a second thought.Other Review7y ago - Shedeck Elementary School

4/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageMy children went to Shedeck, I volunteered as a Helping Hand and then got a job there. 19+ years of service. Shedeck teachers very much care about their students. They have a new principle and he's doing alot of good there. Parents need to get involved when and where they are able. It helps the school and students. Check out the schools website.Other Review4mo ago - Parkland Elementary School

10/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI have had a wonderful experience at Parkland. Mrs. Johnson is a phenomenal first grade teacher. My daughter says she has "loving words" and that speaks volumes to this mom! Mr. Haggard obviously cares about each student. He is always visible and active with the students; making them feel like he is approachable if ever they needed to talk to him.Parent Review4y ago - Skyview Elementary School

N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageSt. John Nepomuk Catholic Church and School is more than just a church or school, it is a home for my family. The staff is caring and compassionate. The principal is very active throughout the school and strives for the best educational environment for our children. My children benefit greatly from the gift of Catholic education. The school consistently involves the students, staff, and parents in serving the community both here in Yukon and throughout the entire city. If you’ve ever thought about investing in the highest quality education for your children, look no further than St. John Nepomuk!Principal Review5y ago - Southwest Covenant School

N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageOur child attends 3rd grade at SWCS. The curriculum is challenging, the teachers are friendly, and the new elementary school is state of the art. It took a little adjustment to adapt to the culture of the school, but we are extremely pleased with how well our child is doing.Parent Review7y ago
