Council Oak Elementary School

Pipeline to prison poster child. These are elementary aged children. This school treats children like prisoners and is militant. As a parent I regret sending my child here.

Kendall Whittier is a great community school. The teachers are great and so is administration. The dual language program is one of the best in the state and all students are offered music, art, computers, library and PE. There is also a dedicated school nurse and several counselors so the school has the resources it needs to provide a great educational experience for all kids.

Horrible school as far as leadership. The teachers were great, but were limited by the principal. She was rarely at the school and when she was, she was in her luxury office with the door shut. Avoids any type of communication. Extremely pretentious. Suspends students without even letting parents know. I had to threaten a lawsuit to get my child’s record cleared. Do not recommend.

Both of my boys love this school, the teachers care about their experience and want them to succeed. They both are high-functioning auDHD and through the years each of their teachers has helped them and me work through the ups and downs. From the music teacher to the principal, the staff here genuinely cares for the children. As a parent, it brings so much comfort knowing my kids are well looked after while learning. I can even get updates from the teachers with their app or even send a direct message if needed.

We are a new family for this (2024-25) year, and can I just say first how wonderful everyone at this gem of a school is. Our daughter was nervous to start as a new kid starting in an older grade where students have been together for years. The students are amazing and *so* inclusive of other students. Academically, she is more engaged than ever and the teachers are all incredibly supportive. We love the hands-on approach to learning that leaves her room to explore her own interests alongside her schoolwork. We love that she goes to school in a richly diverse group of students from all different ways of thinking and backgrounds. The school has a reputation as being really strong in math and science, and that is very true--however, they are strong everywhere! We are excited about our future at University School and could not recommend it more highly.

My daughter attends Undercroft & I cannot say enough good things about this school! From the beautiful classrooms that set up to engage the child in learning to the wonderful teaching staff and SO MUCH MORE!
