Hayes Elementary School

My kids were attending Coolidge and I quickly took them out because the lack of understanding on the teachers part. My youngest son came home crying daily, so I took them to Garfield.The teachers there are so caring and understanding, they make learning fun and upbeat and my son has loved school ever since and he is a difficult child, but they work with him the best they can. I have seen great progress in him his reading and math skills are excellent now bc of the schools help. My other son is always so good and they never fail to praise him and make him want to strive for success. The principal even personally called me to tell me how good my child was bc in a bad situation he made the right choice, its great they keep the parents involved. Great school I would highly recommend it!

I love how nice and productive the teachers are. I have had a wonderful experience there. I think that the principle is wonderful, she is great at her job.

The teachers here are so HATEFUL! I’ve overheard them talking about students myself. They are rude to parents and teacher and parent communication is non existent. Ever since the previous principal left this school has gone downhill FAST.

From the Principal to the teachers, and all the staff who make it possible; Taft is a wonderful school! The kids are met each day at the front door with high fives and hugs! The progress and passion the staff shows is unparalleled.

I have made it a routine to have lunch with my daughter at her school…time that is meaningful to both of us. Until this year, this has always been a positive and well-supported experience.Under the previous administration, I never encountered any issues. Interactions were consistently respectful, and expectations were clear. This year, however, there has been a noticeable shift, marked by repeated negative experiences and a lack of consistency.Most recently, I was informed—without prior notice or reference to any written policy—that I could not walk my daughter to the playground after lunch. The decision was communicated abruptly and without clear justification.I fully respect the need for school policies and structure. However, those policies should be clearly communicated, consistently applied, and grounded in transparency. Sudden changes without explanation create confusion and undermine trust between families and school leadership.I hope the administration takes steps to provide clearer communication and a more consistent approach moving forward.
