Read what parents are saying about Ada High SchoolThis school is basically a popularity contest that begins with the teachers. The teachers (if you want to call them that) are severely lacking in their own education so how would they be able to teach your children? I graduated from this school and was totally unprepared for college even with a 3.75 GPA (which doesn't mean much because I slacked off quite a bit). Luckily, after severely applying myself I have obtained a Master's degree from a large university; however, this "school" did nothing to help me attain that goal. Not everyone is as gifted as I am. If you value your children's education get them as far away from this school as possible.
Posted by a community member on 10/15/2013This school is a joke academically.. AP courses require no extra effort, teachers are too lenient on work, and the curriculum is way, way behind.. I moved schools my senior year to a better school (academically) and am struggling in non-AP classes. Other things are focused on at this school-- tattling, social media fights, drama, etc. (THINGS THAT HAPPENED OUTSIDE OF SCHOOL) when it should be focused on education. If you're looking for a school that will challenge your child academically, go elsewhere.
Posted by a student on 1/10/2013I attended Ada High and found the school to be a great school. I felt very well prepared for college and had no problem with the transition from high school to college academically. Sports (football) is overemphasized but brings the entire school together. I now have 2 kids and I wouldn't send them anywhere else in the area. I like the small town feel although it is the largest school in the area!

Seriously... This site had Ada rated at an 8 and Latta at a 7. I moved both of my kids from Ada to Latta. One was struggling simple because she had teachers who did not care. The other was an 'AP' student. At Latta the one who was AP works to keep an A/B average. The one who was struggling got the help she needed and is now doing well.

9/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageMy son has been attending Homer since Pre-K. I've found that all of his classroom teachers are top notch folks who really do love and care for their students and go above and beyond to help them succeed. The only place I've seen failures with the staff has to do with the young, college aged Student Teachers they have working the playgrounds and extended day areas. Like any younger generation nowadays, they seem more focused on their phones than the task at hand...which in this case if our children!!! The only complaints my son has ever had with any staff at Homer has been regarding the younger student teachers. I have not personally seen any issues with bullying. What I have heard of is that when a teacher is aware of it, it is dealt with swiftly.Parent Review8y ago - Ada Ec Center

4/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI attended Latta Schools my entire pre-college career. It was always a very challenging school that drove me to learn and prepared me for each new step in my life. I love the faculty and staff and have had very few problems with the school as a whole. It was a great education and a great place to grow up.Other Review10y ago
