Whitney Elementary School

Have 2 children who go here. Total of three years in so far. Very pleased all around. They care, they listen. My kids love the school and teachers. One of my kids do have a I.E.P. I feel they truly do care about it. They work very hard with her.

We have been sending our kids to this school (and preschool) for 13 years, and have never regretted our decision. We are treated like family here, and there is a very strong sense of community, lots of ways for kids to connect and faith based values are integrated seamlessly into the curriculum. We feel at home and our kids have grown strong and resilient as a result of the environment this school has provided over the years. We feel blessed to have RRLS staff nurture and support our children's academic, emotional, and spiritual development.

We just have loved everything about this school and have always felt supported

Bullying by teachers and students. Adults favor children and target others. Terrible environment.

I am writing on behalf of someone else that is too afraid to "rock the boat" as a foreigner here. There was a case of bullying (and the school's response to a serious medical issue) that was brought up to the administration and after weeks of back and forth emails and "meetings" with the mom, the administration's resolution was to expel the "whistle blower" and concerning situation. This was after having 2 or 3 meetings and several emails essentially not related to the bullying. Suddenly it was a concern for the student's grades as a first year student there, of which his previous school records were normal, and the first 2 - 3 semesters at this school were normal, but the final semester was on a downward spiral. There was barely and notifications or concerns from the school to the parent, Well there was 1 teacher and the parent corrected that issue. The grades and issues at hand were brought up conveniently after concerns for the child's well being was brought up after an incident at the school with another student lead him in the hospital with a concussion. This was an awful experience for the child and the mother. The child had this injury as a direct result of another student messing with him. The medical advice was to take it easy and slow for next few weeks. How can a child recover when they are being stressed by administration and their actions. There was no course of action from the school to help the child or offer tutoring. They questioned the student if they even wanted to be at this school during one of the meetings, which lead the child to spiral emotionally, especially when the asked him if he even wanted to be at such an elite school, if not that's ok, its not for everyone. Completely unprofessional and inappropriate. Oh to add insult to injury when the final determination was made to kick him out of the school for the following year, he received a packet about a week later stating who his teachers will be and courses etc. How does that level of unprofessionalism happen at a school that is supposed to be so elite and great with education.

As a christian school, christian leaders, they allow themselves to speak disrespectful to others and say harmful things. As pastors, I think, they should seek a way to help, not to harm. I had bad experience with this school, unfortunately. It is just really painful that nobody there cares for you, or for your child. So unfortunate that we have such christians nowadays. I wonder what would Jesus say?
