the discrimination that i, as a person of color who is also a part of the lgbtq+ community, have gone through at this school is absolutely ridiculous. the students are disrespectful and close minded. i have received and know other students who have received death threats just for being who they are.

8.5/10 certain clubs and activities in high school are cliquey and there were certain teachers who do play favorites but who knows those aspects probably changed from when I was in high school. But that was my overall experience and it made me who I am today.

With a few exceptions, I have been very, very pleased with my son's time at Firelands HS. He came in as a very quiet, painfully shy kid with some issues all but one teacher really worked hard to understand. Now, he's a senior, president of the band, and so ready for the real world. Overall, I'm very pleased with FES. Besides my son's 2nd grade teacher, he has responded very well to each one. They all seem to genuinely care about their students and the educational outcome of each child. Oftentimes, education is individualized, which means they recognize that each student learns at their own pace. The support from the staff has been overwhelmingly positive - I've had to work with the guidance counselor, secretaries, and the principal on several occasions. They have all kept lines of communication open both ways.
