Read what parents are saying about Fort Miami Elementary SchoolMy son is in Kindergarten here and he loves it! I love his teacher, he has come along way since September!
Posted by a parent on 1/13/2014Fort Miami is an excellent school, all of the teachers and staff are amazing and I know my girls are getting a great education!!!
Posted by a parent on 8/23/2013After speaking with other parents I found that I was not alone in my opinions. There is a kindergarten teacher there that should not be working with such little children. She expects too much from such a young group. My daughter has told that her teacher has told some of her classmates that she does not like their pictures. Which while may not be a horrible example but any parent knows what that phrase does to a child's spirit. I am considering transferring my daughter to another school after "Holiday" break.
Posted by a parent on 11/30/2011My son didnt get off the school bus at his daycare the first week. I was told from another child he got off the bus and after searching the area I could not find him. I lost it. I called the school crying and the woman repeatedly interrupted me as i was trying to explain what was going on and after finally screamed at her to shut up and let me talk i was hung up on. I found the other child was mistaken, my son didnt hear his name called to get off the bus, but hanging up on a parent who doesnt know where their child is is insane. What if he had gotten off the bus and was alone somewhere? I went up to the school to apologize to the secretary for screaming at her, explain the situation, but also to tell her that is not how you handle the situation. I was instead met at the door by the principal who insulted me by saying the way I acted was uncalled for and at least my son was on the right bus. I never got to tell her exactly what happened because she did not let me speak. After this there was another incident where he WAS put on the wrong bus. Only 2 months into the year and I am considering transferring him. There is sooo much more but I am running out of space to put it!

N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageEducational quality is extremely disappointing. Writing formats used are abstract (Chicago Style) and not the same as expected by most highly rated colleges and universities (MLA/APA). Teachers do not give students adequate information about what they want them to learn at the time a unit is presented, and then expect them to know everything about it after it is taught in detail. No guided notes or study guides are offered at the beginning of a unit that students can follow along with and that will lay out the important facts and knowledge the student needs to master. These units most often last for several weeks. When teachers do finally hand out the study guides for the unit tests, they are extensive and very general requiring students to memorize every minute detail that was presented in order to barely pass the test. Even after several requests for study guides that are clear and concise with teacher expectations for what is important for students to learn, teachers refuse to provide them. Also, if your child has a disability, please be aware that all accommodations are only given at teachers' discretion per principal permission. Also, there are no special education teachers there to help your child on a daily basis. Finally, teachers are not consistent with posting homework board assignments in a timely fashion so that parents can help their child stay on track. Oftentimes, assignments are not posted until the afternoon of the day they are due or even after they are due. This has not improved even though multiple requests have been made.Other Review1mo ago - St Joseph Catholic School

N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageIf you are a conservative catholic, or a parent that wants to keep your child in a bubble, this is the school for you. I've heard from multiple people that the kids that come from Saint Rose and transfer to public ( or elsewhere) are behind.Parent Review1y ago
