DECENT Because i have friends to get me through the dayPosted by a parent on 2/1/2018
The vice principle Mrs. Pam Smith was more interested in pep rallies, home coming dances and reliving her own glorious high school days then education. If your child has any learning disabilities expect them to be pushed on to the next grade with no regard for the individual student needs. Fights and bullying are a constant in the hallways and bathrooms. If you have another option, take it.Posted by a parent on 8/29/2015

This school is terrible-It may have been decent in the past but this school is absolute horrid now. The teachers aren't half bad, (except for the few that clearly show favoritism) but the coaches and sports facility gets all the special attention. They dont show the Drama or Arts programs any care. If your child is interested in the arts i would NOT go here, they have a terrible theatre department, and the arts are horrible. The administration is wretched too. If you're late more than 8 times (no matter what the situation is) they suspend you. And if you're late more than 3 times (every time after you're late) you go to ISS (which is a dumb anagram for basically saying they're going to put you in a room, and keep you from learning anything whatsoever, for the entire day) They're unjust, and won't give you any freedom of speech, and you can't do or say anything that gives you any personality. They've blocked off half of the things women can wear, it be revealing or not. I was told I can't wear my sweater because It's not long enough. That doesn't make any sense to me what so ever. (I was also wearing pants, i feel i should add) This school is terrible, do not send your child there.Posted by a student on 10/7/2013

2/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageBoth my children attend Parsons. My oldest son is in 3rd grade and has nothing but the best teachers who have all been attentive to his own individual needs. In 1st grade he struggled with reading and without me having to say something or having to go rounds with the school his teacher got him assigned a reading tutor and his reading improved drastically over the next few months. My youngest started kindergarten this year and I was extremely nervous because he is a handful. His teacher has said nothing but good things about him and he comes home almost every day with green days. I love this school and the staff.Parent Review8y ago

4/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageOut of the 420 students, 333 of them being Caucasian and 21 of them are black, my child just happens to be one of those black children. This would be his second year in this school. Last year we had no problems. His kindergarten teacher was phenomenal. This year however the teacher is incompetent, did interested and does not care. My child has come home on several occasions stating he feels as though his teacher does not like him or he is being treated differently. This year he had an incident where he was kicked in the privates and instead of immediately being called we were not. Weeks later we met with the principal and she herself didn't even know about the incident. This schools values have rapidly declined. I was so excited and looking forward to this year and now I can not wait until the school year is over to see if there is a way he can be transferred to another school in the same district. I am not the only parent making complaints.Parent Review5y ago

4/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageHorrendous. This school/staff had my child so emotionally broken after one year that it took an entire year of education and love from the new staff at a different school for her joy to return. We will never set foot in that building again.Parent Review2y ago
