Denison PreK-8 School

My daughter started in this school last year and she loves it. Her first grade teacher Mrs. Hirzel, is one of the best teachers I have ever seen. Responsible, sweet, fair and goes beyond to help her students learn. She is so committed to the school that even though she retired last year, she volunteers this year and comes each week to help out. And most of its teachers are good teachers, the staff is always working hard to do activities for the kids. Security is not a problem here, never seen anything out of order. Families are more integrated to the school that in other schools in the same district. Staff and families work hard to move school from effective grade to excellent . Only concern, district cut funds on school and they don't have a nurse, art,music,gym and media class were also cut from budget. Hope the city invest all the $$$ the casino is paying in taxes to improve the schools. Overall I recommend this school.

it was great when I went their I want to go their next year

On a scale from 1 being the worst and 10 being the best I give them a zero! There is no communication with the parents. When there's a problem the principal hides away from the parents. The staff demands respect from the students but do not teach the students how to respect in return. Bullying comes in more than one form and if that's cool they have all forms of bullying.

St. Rocco is a safe environment where students can learn and confidently be themselves.

The principal there is rude and unprofessional. She treats the teachers and faculty very mean. From what I was able to observe they fear her and staff walks around like soldiers jumping at her request. She treats the children their very unprofessional by screaming at them and making fun of them when they start to cry. She calls them names and is just a miserable person. I do not recommend this school at all which is sad because the teachers that I was able to come in contact with are very pleasant.
