Posted by a parent on 2/26/2015I am very disappointed with the replacement of the principal and many other changes that came along with the $4.2 million grant this year. The claimed added support services are nonexistent. Several parents are removing their kids from the school this year since many of the proposed changes are not working to the fullest benefit for the students. Class sizes are too big; all teachers need an assistant for the classroom. To see improvement in test scores the students require individual time with teachers. Countless students need extra time for comprehension as they are falling behind and have no one to help catch them up. The bullying is rampant and parent involvement is little to none. There are no extracurricular sports activities for students either. Added sports activities will create leadership skills, teamwork, and give a sense of school spirit to the students. The personal connection with the teachers is all I enjoy about the school.
Posted by a parent on 10/16/2013My daughter is attending this school for the 2nd yr. I was worried about all the things i heard about the school...bad neighborhood, bad kids,ect... BUT the school ended up being really great..its clean the staff is amazing all the kids i have met Seem to be great kids... the school all around I like and will continue to send me kids there...The principal Mrs. Martin knows all of her students and is great with all of them! The teachers are great!
Posted by a parent on 9/8/2011I think it is a good school. It is the parents responsibility to teach their children right from wrong and how to treat other people. I feel that alot of the parents do not care. Parents need to be more involoved in their childrens education.
Posted by a parent on 4/18/2011This school is no different than any othr school except that they are very poor and have no parent invlolement which makes a great deal of difference. The school involement at this school is great due to the staff. The school havs very caring staff and provide a safe learning eviroment and is a very clean school which makes a big difference.

3/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageWent to this school my entire childhood, K-12. If this were being written back in the 80's, 90's or even early 2000's I'd recommend the school. It was different back then. You had teachers who wanted to see kids learn, grow and succeed. Yes it was a small school but it made learning more intimate. They kept kids in check, disciplined and motivated. The superintendent, principle and guidance counselor were leaders and you knew when you crossed the line back then. Now, its the complete opposite. Perhaps its just an era thing but teachers go too easy on kids. There's no control, kids don't want to learn, they talk back and do whatever they want. Fights are a normal thing with almost no discipline attached. Look at the news, the school had to shutdown due to fighting. Kids wear pajamas to school on a normal basis. The place looks like a slumber party between the way kid and staff dress. Most of the people working there graduated within the past 10 years and have minimal experience. The place needs a better leader, bigger budget and guidance. Enjoyed it when I went there a long time ago but shocked how much its changed. Friends of mine have all reverted to moving out of the town and pulling their kids from the school. One of them saw their kid declining in learning ability. He thought his kid was just goofing off in school. He'd ask him how school was and what he learned (elementary). His kid would respond with 'nothing' or 'no much'. After continually getting this answer he was positive his kid was becoming a bad student so he set a meeting with the teacher to correct it. Come to find out the teacher told him things are different now, we don't force education upon kids. We don't want to stress them out so we don't teach new things every day. If they want to learn, then they learn, if not, its not forced. He was stunned and no longer in the district.Other Review1y ago - Ps 14

4/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThey need to do something about these rude teachers because how they are to parents and these kids is ridiculous and you gonna come across the wrong parent one of these days. Parents should be able to drop their kids off without a teacher having a smart remark or being rude smhParent Review6y ago - Watervliet Elementary School

N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI attended Redemption Christian Academy. I started in Pre-K and graduated from high school in 1994. Redemption has taught me so much. I have learned discipline, and to give 100% in whatever I do. I am currently a nurse and in-spite of my schedule I always find time to volunteer and give back. Redemption is a great school and program to prepare anyone for the real world.Parent Review1y ago
