Mynderse Academy

Mynderse Academy has declined significantly. As a parent and a alumni this school does not seem to care about it’s students as it used too. The teachers do not take the time to help students as I have struggled to get my daughter the help she needs. When trying to get a 504 plan and have my child assessed for adhd the school councilors “diagnosed” my child with different mental health disorders and with out actually taking the time actually see what’s going on. They don’t reach out to both parents to make sure there is involvement from both parents. They send emails and don’t confirm, move forward with paperwork without consent from both parents that is suppose to have both parents consent. My child who has worked hard for good grades has struggled since 9th grade. She failed earth science her 9th grade year Barely passed the regents during summer school. 81% of students that year failed the regents for earth science. The school knew the teacher needed to retire and when asked about how it will affect her college applications the school told her not to worry about it. Is this how students are to look at failing grades when the school did nothing to help or prevent this? It’s concerning and worrisome knowing this as a parent. Now my child who still works hard for good grades has no ambition for college or sports which is another subject all in it’s own. The district used to be great and it continues to decline. If I could convince my child to transfer like I had my youngest do I would feel so much better.

Superintendent and his office does not care about the students. Superintendent is a nice guy with no heart for current or previous students unfortunately. He has the power to allow my daughter to attend a seniors dance coming up but said he will not help.She graduated last year during the "Coronavirus" and went into basic training immediately after being recruited at a young age at the school. Her boyfriend whom is a current senior at mynderse academy graduates this year and goes into basic training in July.This school needs a district and a Superintendent that fights for the kids. Ultimately that does not bend over to "rules and regulations". As a school tax payer in waterloo and seneca falls. As a parent of 3 I am disgusted with the decision made by the Superintendent directlyDo the right thing and show these kids you do care. Show them they are worthy and stop blaming the state and everything else. Fight for these kids you have tax payers money to do that....
