Sacandaga School

My daughter went to this school for 2 years and is now at the top of almost all of her classes, when before she was below average - a great district overall and I would strongly recommend to anyone who asks.

This school is disgusting and crazy, if your giving this school a five star you’re very much wrong. My child told me that a student threw a chair at a teacher. The teachers completely ignore threats unless there told by smarter children or are suicidal threats. Some teachers explain things in the worst way possible. If you think this school is nice, your child is lying.

St John's is a wonderful school with high standards and a caring staff. My children have been in both the early childhood program and the elementary school and have thrived academically and emotionally. Although there is a strong emphasis on academics the education that they have received goes far beyond what can be taught from books. The teachers at St John's are devoted to their students' achievements and are always available when needed. It is more than a school, it is a community- one that I am proud my family is part of.

We have three daughters. My oldest daughter graduated last year from Mekeel and we have two daughters on track to graduate from Mekeel in the coming years. My husband and I could not be happier with our choice to enroll our daughter's in Mekeel 9 years ago. The environment at Mekeel is comforting, safe, and supportive and very unique in that we are like a family. The teachers connect with students on many levels (academically, emotionally and spiritually). There is nothing more comforting than knowing our girls are loved and cared for during the most formidable years of their lives by teachers that truly care for them. There is nothing sweeter than the Mekeel culture of upperclassman pouring into the younger students and being fantastic role models for the next generation. Watching upperclassman genuinely love and care for the younger kids is so special at Mekeel. As a parent, I am encouraged about the academic rigor at Mekeel as well as the AP and college credit courses offered at Mekeel. Additionally, our girls have had great success in volleyball, soccer, basketball, track, softball and theatre. We appreciate the blend of academics, spiritual life, athletics and fine arts provided at Mekeel. Students are loved, challenged and cared for at Mekeel and we can't ask much more than that for our girls.
