8/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageOur son loved Fres & was given an excellent education. After relocating to a "great" school district in NJ we now realize just how excellent Fres truly is. Fres offers so much more in terms of critical thinking and STEM as a part of the curriculum.Parent Review4y ago

N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI relocated to the district in August due to work and have had a terrible time enrolling my child in school. Every staff member I have encountered has been short and unaccommodating via email and telephone. Staff seems to have a sense of entailment. They have made me feel very unwelcome. If they are this rude to me, I can only imagine how the children are treated. Parent night’s exclude children, for someone such as myself who parents alone and just moved here it is difficult to secure child care to attend these events, and if you do not attend I am made out to be a “difficult” unaccommodating parent. Bus registration was the most difficult issue, due to late registration my child could not be accommodated for transportation until mid-month. The expectation to leave work to shuttle my child was unreasonable. I understand why 25% of students miss the first week of classes. If you don’t come from a 2 parent family you cannot make it work. A formal bus registration form finally came to my home on Sept 8th. 8 weeks after formal enrollment.Parent Review6y ago

3/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating Average1. Issues are swept under the rug. 2. After principal Palermo left, the school is out of control. The current principal & vice principal walks around all day with a walkie talkie like they are working. Or, they aren't in the office to meet with parents. 3. The red (bad), yellow (so-so), and green (great) daily behavior process is a waste of time. Just call or email the parents from time with concerns about behavior. It's common sense. 4. Teachers don't answer calls or voicemails. 5. When problems arise between students in the classroom, most teachers send the children to another class without notifying parents. 6. The school lunch is not up to par. The lunchroom staff have to step their game up; I know you have rodents and other issues, I saw the reports online. This school is very small and old. Clara Barton # 2 needs a makeover inside and out.Hire staff that wants to teach and teach well. Create an inviting environment for parents. In my opinion, the school needs to close down.Parent Review6y ago

1/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageMy child is in kindergarten and attends this school. My daughter reading skills has improved so much since Pre-K and also her math skills. I was worry at first when I found out the other students didn't even know how to add or substract. I thought she would have to wait until the others caught up, but her teacher just challenged her a little more than the others. I really love that her teacher looks at what level they are and base what work he gives them off of it. Homework everyday and he is always available if I have a question. I am hoping my son will be in his class next year.Parent Review7y ago

1/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageWhen my oldest daughter attened from Fall of 1993 to 1999, the teachers got her from being a difficult student (she had ADD) to being a good student. However, now, with my 11 year old in 5th grade there, things have changed a bit. When I tried to enlist the school's help with my daughter's attendance issues, I got as far as a few rounds of phone tag with the school psychologist and finally decided my time would be better spent trying to address the issue on my own. Also, how can they give my daughter "Honor Roll" and "High Honor Roll" status, then turn around and say she is not meeting the stanards for ELA and needs summer school? This seems to be a problem with atleast a few of the RCSD schools.Parent Review11y ago
