St Helen School

On September 30th of 2025, my son was placed in restraints with his hands behind his back by the security at ps 224. I was told that my son was displaying behavioral issues that is why the restraints were needed. My son has never had any behavioral issues at all until he got to ps 224. It is so bad until the point where my son does not want to go back to school. The staff at the school kept telling me that my son was banging his head and throwing objects across the floor he has never displayed any of this behavior until he got to ps 224 and he has only been in the school less than a month. The staff is very disrespectful and they are not capable of handling certain situations when it comes to a student showing this type of action. My son is only 7 years old and he is very traumatized about what happened to him at ps 224.

I strongly do not recommend school as I feel. They do a lot of events such as fundraisers. I don’t feel much of a inviting presents to come to the school when I’ve had to go up to the school for multiple times for my son who was getting bullied I felt pushed out. I felt there was no communication, and the bullying was physical. They didn’t do anything. I feel like the classes are too large for students however, I believe that is a problem that is across schools not particularly pertaining to that school. I feel like with technologies. There is a lot of ways to keep in communication with people, phone calls, parents or general emails however, I feel it takes days for somebody to contact me , generally My son is not excited to attend school and never has good things to say

Awesome school. The teachers are student centered and hold the bar high with high expectations.

My children attend this school and I have no complaints. The teachers all show they care, are responsive and provide support and guidance when needed. I like that the school goes to 8th grade and the students get to learn and grow in one building and keep the support systems they’ve had since they were little. The PTA does a lot for students and parents to engage the students and parents during school hours and after school. Overall, I like the school and even with a new principal in place, she’s doing many things to make sure the school does the best for its students and the community.
