Read what parents are saying about P.S. 78PS78 did an excellent job during the pandemic , students are challenged academically (state test scores are on par w GT schools). Teachers are responsive and respond promptly, engage with you when needed, take the time to listen. The Vice Principal is awesome as well. Music teachers teach passion for music. I’m glad we moved to the neighborhood for this school. Frankly it’s the main reason we stay in NYC - if we land at the zoned middle school IS204 given the horrific DOE rezoning process, we will move to Westchester or somewhere.
Posted by a parent on 12/18/2022My kids likes this school. Is a good environment and everybody is very friendly. Teachers are great, good communication. I like that they have Spanish and music classes as part of the curriculum.
Posted by a parent on 9/3/2022My daughter has been at PS 78 since she was in prek. She is now is 3rd grade and doing great. We love the school.
Posted by a parent on 11/6/2021PS78 has been a great school so far for my rising 4th grader and we have our kindergartner joining next year. The teachers are great - responsive, caring, happy to work with you. Academics are par for the course - my kids are learning and we’re happy. The school doesn’t get Title1 funding so a lot of the activities, after school is parent funded. They have recess with an outside company -PTA funded. The PTA is very active - they don’t just do bake sales, but much, much more by way of fund raising. The school has done a great job through the pandemic. Online class was a great overall experience and in person also went well - considering the logistical nightmare it was. They did everything within their power to keep our kids safe and some more besides! Communication was awesome - from regular emails, texts and principal led zoom calls. We will likely stay through middle school - provided we don’t get zoned out with the new progressive CEC trying to make an already majority minority school “more integrated”!
Posted by a parent on 6/27/2021Love, love, love PS78 and we are so glad we sent our kids to this neighborhood school rather than G&T. They have done a marvelous job with remote learning during this pandemic. Teachers take time to work with kids in small groups and one on one and even help with tech issues. We love the music teacher MrG who has been a great influence getting our daughter to take an interest in music. All the teachers are passionate about their work.

N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageAs a concerned parent, I feel compelled to share my deep disappointment with Lyceum Kennedy School. From the moment we enrolled our child, it became abundantly clear that the school's claims of providing an enriching educational experience were nothing more than empty promises.Parent Review11mo ago - Evangel Christian School

N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageMy experience was great from Pre-K to elementary. The teachers were kind, patient, and great at teaching. All these issues began in middle school and beyond that. This school is not a good place for those who would like to involve their children in Christianity. I have gone to this school for 9 years, I am certain of what I am saying.Student Review4y ago - The Family School

N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageSuper rigorous curriculum, inspiring teachers, nurturing and inclusive environment. This small school far exceeds my expectations and in my opinion provides a higher quality education than a lot of big name schools in NYC.Parent Review5y ago - Saint Albans

N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageNIGHTMARE and BEWARE of law suit. We had the worst experience sending out kid at St.Albans. We decide to pull our child out of this school after one month and they hit us with full one year tuition. We found out they also did the same thing to 5 other families like us. We received a court papers and we had to get a lawyer as well. We end up settling outside of the court but it was a nightmare. The principle and senior preacher are horrible people. Do not send join kids to this horrible school.Parent Review2y ago - The Montessori School of New York - Manhattan

10/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThe new school building is a pleasant departure from the typically older school buildings in NYC. A standout feature of the school is its early "robotics" club, hosting a club for FRC entry (First Robotics Competition). This program exposes children to STEM fields from an early age, fostering creativity, problem-solving, and teamwork skills. The school's approach to homework, starting from 1st grade, promotes accountability and develops good study habits. The teachers are young, passionate, and patient, fostering a positive learning environment. Their active engagement with parents via the ParentSquare web portal is commendable, keeping parents informed and involved in their children's education. The PTA is very active, consistently providing enriching programs for kids of all grades, including organizing engaging field trips. The quality of the After School program is good overall, with a wide spectrum offering and certain activities standing out as exceptional (Chess, FRC club, a few others)The school boasts a well-organized Chess program, which shows promise of becoming a strong contender in future NYC competitions. The principal's involvement and dedication are impressive - she appears industrious and driven. The school's focus on academic achievements without an overtly political agenda (DEI etc) is refreshing and stands in contrast with Schools like PS111, or even private schools like Grace School. The teachers at all levels are EXCELLENT - they are dedicated, supportive, and skillful at fostering a positive learning environment.Cons:Firstly, the after-school vendor's logistics staff appears to have a high turnover rate, which can cause inconsistency in the quality of services provided. However, it is noteworthy that this issue seems to be somewhat mitigated as of Spring 2023.Secondly, the school's elections and input to integrating the recent (non-English speaking) immigrant students could use a more strategic plan. I understand this was shoved on (all ??) NYC schools, and that it is good to provide opportunities to all children, yet the school needs to take steps to ensure this does not disrupt the learning pace for existing students. It would be beneficial to implement specialized programs or resources (Special needs ?) for these new students to help them catch up and integrate better. I predict all PS NYC schools that took in immigrant arrivals will have a huge drop in scores and quality in the next 2 years. Its a tough situationOther Review10mo ago
