Read what parents are saying about Jhs 226 Virgil I GrissonAs an on going student for MS 226, this school is absolutely great. Teachers are amazing and staff are helpful and friendly. Rooms and hallways are clean, bathrooms could be worse last periods though. When people say the school is quote "Bad", it really isn't. The students are the ones that make it hated with their bad behavior, but you could always report them to Mrs.Paisley, the guidance counselor (2023) to solve it.

Posted by a parent on 3/24/2022Just putting this out there...226 is a great school. As a soon to be graduate of this school it makes me sick when I see people slander it. The school isn't "bad", in fact no school is "bad". It's the students that give the school it's reputation. Some parent's complain and say that the school is neglecting their students, that the staff don't do the job that they are suppose to do; they never almost never stop for a second to think that maybe their little "angels" aren't so innocent. I've seen student's vape and smoke drugs in this school, however, how do you expect the staff to crack down on this when your children think of every possible way of hiding their actions from the staff? It is also your responsibility as a parent to have a connection with your child and make sure that they aren't following the wrong group of friends, it is also your responsibility to check your children's bags, because there are rules that regulate how staff members can go about the matter, and what they can do and not do in terms of searching a students bag. I'd also like to mention that the staff and teachers at this school are the most kind people I have ever met, it's too bad that some students take advantage of this because they throw everything their parents teach them out the window as soon as they arrive in the morning. It's both the school and the parents responsibility to regulate the behavioral issues of the child and the dangerous habits. As a parent you can't expect the school to give everything without first giving something yourself.

Posted by a community member on 1/26/2018I heard good and bad things about the school, but you don't know until you experience it. Yeah, it's true... you can't blame the school...you blame the students...do you ever blame the STAFF?? Maybe the people who work at the school are not doing what they are suppose to do...or putting down the students? Even the principal will not return calls to the parents...WHY? If the staff is not going to treat people with respect...how far can they get? We put our kids in your hand for the day...they see you more than they see their family....treat them with respect...and some students need more help than others...HELP THEM..that's what you are there for????? Angry parent

Especially for just elementary students the teachers, staff, and administration are not helpful and very often singles out the students.Parent Review3y ago - Ps 161 Arthur Ashe School

8/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI had a very bad experience with this school. I used to attend this school before, and it was awesome. But now that my child attended that school, I hate it!! The teachers were very rude to my child. One of the teachers would tell her students that if they didn't pay attention that they would be asked to leave. Now I have another child that needs to be enrolled and they knew who I was and never called me back to enroll my child. Some teachers are kind like Mrs. Alex and Mr.Hallick. The rest of the teachers that I met were not very welcoming at all and the staff as well. This website only focuses on the learning achievements/ academics but what about the teachers and staff's behavior towards the students. This website should also focus more on what the parents are thinking instead the top reviews they post are the academics and the parents reviews are at the very last of the page. If our children aren't happy in the environment where they spend the whole day, then they won't learn. I know that for a fact because now that my older child attends a different school, he has learned a lot, and he is happy there.Parent Review7mo ago - Ps 96

8/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AveragePrincipal Koo is a trustworthy and kind leader. I feel safe and secure dropping off my children to school at PS155 because of the school’s good leadership. My kids had been accepted into a Charter school but didn’t want to leave PS 155. They love it and that’s a blessing. All the best to the PS 155 community and thanks Principal Koo!Parent Review1y ago - Al-Ihsan Academy
