Oswego High School

When I was going to school at SUNY Oswego, I worked at Fitzhugh Park School as a substitute teaching assistant for part of the 2023-2024 school year, and I had a wonderful experience here. The teachers I worked with were very friendly and helpful, and I formed bonds with quite a few of the kids. I was mostly at Leighton during my time in Oswego, but I was always excited to be at FPS. I couldn't remain at SUNY Oswego due to financial difficulties, and it broke my heart to leave. I did come back briefly for a week in April, and I was glad to be back. I miss Fitzhugh Park with all my heart.

I worked as a substitute teaching assistant in the Oswego City School District for half of the 2023-2024 school year during my time at SUNY Oswego. While I was mostly at Fitzhugh Park and Leighton, I did sub initially at Kingsford Park. During my brief time there, I found it to be a rather lovely school. The staff were very friendly, particularly the other aides and TAs, which was a bit of a culture shock for me as the previous school I worked in was a toxic work environment. I regret that I wasn't able to sub at KPS more often, it really was a lovely school.

Leighton Elementary is a fantastic school. The teachers and staff go above and beyond. There are monthly family engagement nights. The Home & School is very supportive at all of the events. Leighton also has before school care and after school care through the Y, which is a big help to working parents! The other reviews I read are over 10years old, so I thought I’d give an update.

A great alternative to the large class sizes and behavior problems in the public schools. A wonderful principal, caring staff members and family like atmosphere. We are glad we made the switch - it is worth every penny!

The absolute WORST school in the Oswego area. If your looking for an environment for your child that has outdated and incorrect textbooks, mass amounts of homework, and nepotism among the faculty, then this is the school for you! Not to mention the controlling and cruel principal who stated that they falsify the grades so that the school looks better, the uncertified teachers, no qualified helpers the MOLD in the basement. There was one person who did love my kids and I felt safe with that staff member there, but we as parents received and email stating because they didnt fit into the principal's standards he let them know. I hate to be the one to say this but that person held the school together and we parents this year have noticed.No thanks, we will never go back to this place!
