Read what parents are saying about Maple Avenue SchoolHorrible ! Teachers run the school and have been in their positions so long they have lost focus why they even teach. They are lazy and do the minimum required. Worst of all they discriminate against lower incomes and students that are different from the norm
Posted by a parent on 3/5/2018We actually decided to send our 5-year-old to a private kindergarten even though Maple Ave is only 2 blocks from our home. When we went to see their kindergarten program, we found one teacher was retiring (she wasn't old) and one teacher seemed completely disinterested in actually working with the children's needs. Our child wouldn't even go inside the rooms, there was such a vibe of chaos.
Posted by a parent on 11/23/2014Sad to say this is my childrens home school. My oldest is now 18 ..and my youngest will be starting this yr in pre-k. The teachers do not tolerate diversity in children and push parents to medicate . God forbid the child with special needs to attend this school. There are a couple teachers that care...the others gossip to other parents and make you feel less of a parent if you have to work to support your family . I am hoping a new principal this year will improve the quality of the school
Posted by a parent on 8/2/2013I personally love the school so far. My son started this year in the pre k program. He has learned so much already. He is even beginning to read and write. I feel his teacher is doing an exceptional job. The pre k program is doing a good job at preparing him for kindergarten. This is not our home school, i ask for him to go there because i feel its a great school!
Posted by a parent on 2/11/2013personally, my kids have been in this school since pre-k. Thankfully we are moving soon because the school is awful. My daughter is in 1st grade and has never seen a spelling test, they haven't taught her phonics so now she is doing poorly in reading and the teacher barely does her job. My son is in 3rd grade, he has ADHD and we treat it with diet, sleep and exercise, the school has been pushing me to drug him since he started, he should be in special education classes, the school does not offer it so they are basically setting him up for failure, again the teacher does not feel the need to teach at all, which is a pretty common occurance in maple avenue. Oh and god forbid if you are ever tight on cash, because this school loves parental money every time you turn around. Awful school with awful teacher and substandard teaching methods. I do not recommend this school to anyone that actually cares about their childrens education. simply put, it is a joke passed off as a school!

3/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageMy child has some sensory issues and this school offers NOTHING for children who need simulation and have disabilities. They label the child as "trouble" and push them aside. The school district will also be quick to try and tell you your child has ADHD and tell you to put them on medication. My child was only in first grade and was being bullied for being "different" than the other children and it was handled VERY POORLY! I was told that it would be taken care of and it continued throughout the entire school year making it extremely difficult for my child to even want to attend school anymore. Everyday he would scream and cry. He was having his lunch money taken from him, his food, and being touched inappropriately by another child and I was told because it didn't happen in the classroom there wasn't anything that they could do. It was a relief for the school year to end but sadly as the school year is now starting back up they put my child back into the same classroom with this kid. When I brought it to the attention of his new teacher I was told the same thing all over again, "they'll be separated so they are not together". It didn't work last year so how will it work this year? Whatever happened to ZERO TOLERANCE!!!!??? And please stop putting labels on the children who might need the little extra stimulation and who may fidget with anxiety or other quirks. Stop putting them front and center in the classroom as if they are "bad" or in timeout when they are doing things that can not be helped.Parent Review6y ago - Niagara Street School

2/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageWe had an issue with a lunch aide withholding food from our daughter. We tried reaching the principal 3 times and she never returned our call. After I threatened to report the school to the state, we received a call from a school worker, but not the principal. My daughter is also having ongoing problems with another child. The schools way of handling it is to discuss being nice with the entire class. We are very disappointed in this school.Parent Review12y ago - Sacred Heart Villa School

N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThis is such a great school, small class sizes, family oriented, faith based. The teachers care about every child and family. They take the time to work with the children where they are at developmentally and are so patient with them.Parent Review10mo ago - St. Joseph Elementary School
