Read what parents are saying about The Global Learning CollaborativeGlc is a good school! The teachers care about their student! My doughter is in 11th grade and is fond of her teachers. Going thru sat prep , regents is not easy for a 11th grader, but the teachers have been there with her supporting and guiding . It has a long way to go to become a great school but i am sure it will get there.
Posted by a parent on 6/1/2015This school is too chaotic to aptly support student growth and development. This principal is not up to the challenge of running a high school full of English Language Learners and students with Individualized Education Plans. Instead of focusing on teacher quality and student achievement, she focuses on micromanaging and intimidation of staff and students alike. It is not a happy place to work or to try and learn. Discipline is greatly lacking as is consistency of scool policies. The school sorely needs new leadership. The students who attend are lovely and there is a group of hard working teachers, but without solid direction, those staff and students who are disruptive and not hardworking cause too much chaos for other students to excel. A high school simply cannot survive with the graduation rates and credit accumulation seen at the GLC.
Posted by a community member on 7/28/2014This small High school is nowhere near terrible. I am I current graduate of this school and I can truly say that I completely enjoyed my experience. The teachers here really care about their students and their main priority is to get students ready for the regents and for college. The principal really wants to be 1 on 1 with you and she fulfills that task everyday. If you're failing a class or a regents she will talk to you 1 on 1 just like you would with a friend. I think that is the best quality of a principal. In this school all you really have to do is your work and you will end up with a diploma 4 years later. IT IS REALLY NOT THAT HARD. If you want to attend a High school with a sound community, great opportunities, and college readiness I recommend this school. It's really all about putting in your 2 cents and letting the teachers handle the rest. As long as you cooperate and are serious about your education and your future you will succeed. This school will shape you into the adult you need to be and prepare your mind for the hard work ahead. Do not underestimate this small school. It is growing larger as the years go by and it will shape it's students into greatness.

Posted by a student on 9/15/2011Global Learning Collaborative is a remarkable place. If your son or daughter thrives in a small school with terrific teachers, GLC is a great match. Academics are taught in a supportive environment with teachers staying after school each day if anyone needs extra help. Along with the regular high school curriculum is the amazing and inexpensive addition of travel incorporated into the curriculum. The Upper West Side has needed small quality high schools, and GLC is paving the way.

9/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThis is a wonderful school with a great community - especially at the K level. Our son is in his second year at PS009 and loves the school. In fact the school is the only reason we are still living in NY. My son has made amazing friends and has learned so much not just about academics but also about social responsibility and the importance of kindness. Both his K and 1 teachers have been extraordinary and demonstrate that they sincerely care about the children. Unfortunately Mayor Adams has determined education is not a priority in NYC so our class sizes have become rather large (28 in my son's 1st grade class), but fortunately the teachers are qualified to handle these larger class sizes and the school provide small group instruction at least twice a week for every child.Parent Review1y ago - Beit Rabban

N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageTL;DR: Claustrophobic social evironment, cruddy academics, lackluster extra curricular oppertunities, and a general lack of academia. 2/10 leave as soon as possible.Terrible, as a recent alum and student of 4 years I would not wish this school upon my worst enemy. Some of the features first advertised to me were complete shams, their "athletic program" is little more than a bunch of kids grades 5-8 cobbled together on a field, there are no "teams" and they never play outside schools. For such a small school the student support is awful often neglecting stragglers and glossing over their problems (for instance I learned next to nothing in Hebrew for a full year because my teacher use the old "raw memorization" approach combined with some busywork here and there) and aside from external math programs the enrichment is sparse, poorly thought out, and often not delivered. In one case I solved the 2 month long lab assignment in the first 5 minutes and was promised enrichment education. I recieved nothing. They assign virtually no meaningful work for grades 5-7 and decide to triple your workload at the end of eighth grade. The claustrophobically small environment put me in a depressive state of social isolation for at least two years and their "charming casual attitude" means nobody cares about anything. In addition they are needlessly virtue signaling, examples include: the word "guys" was banned, speaking Mandarin Chinese was banned, I have a massive gap in my history knowledge because they exclusively taught about Greece, slavery, and the holocause. I say all of these things from the prespective of a devoted leftist who admires the initiative They teach you no time management, studying, or note taking skills and as the final cherry on top they make you do a massive end of year project talking about how much you just love the school. The only reason I am a straight-A student today is because 4 years at this school managed to teach me a valuable lesson about how to put up with that kind of garbage 8 hours a day, five days a week.Other Review1y ago - The Geneva School of Manhattan

N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageWe currently have a fourth and first grader enrolled in the school, and it is our fifth year at the school. It is a wonderful Christian school with loving staff and faculty, a rich curriculum, small class sizes, and one of the only Classical schools in the area. We live in Westchester, but still have our children enrolled at The Geneva School because we strongly believe in their mission and have not found a comparable school in our area.Parent Review1y ago - St. Gregory the Great School

N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI have two kids at Manhattan Country School and am very happy with the school. The teachers are wonderful, the administration is available and responsive, and both of my kids love going to school everyday. I appreciate their commitment to progressive education and values of activism, social justice, diversity, equity and inclusion, and the farm program. I also think the school is unique in that is truly seems to "walk the walk" in regards to these values. The sense of inclusiveness is palpable, and the sliding scale tuition makes for a uniquely diverse community. The school also has a farm in the Catskills where students begin to visit in their 7-8s (2nd grade) year, with visits increasing in frequency and duration each year. At the Farm, kids learn to tend the gardens and animals, cook together, work in the textile workshop, and solidify their sense of being an interdependent community. My kids are truly excited about going to the farm. The school also has an active parent community.Parent Review1y ago - Rodeph Sholom School

N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThe head of the elementary school has is responsible for the destruction of her previous school. She is a person who easily gets on a power trip and turns throws others under the bus quite easily. She probably shouldn't be in a leadership position.Parent Review3mo ago - The Geneva School of Manhattan West Campus
