My special needs kid attended PS 6 from kindergarten through fifth grade. His experience was outstanding on the whole. The vast majority of teachers and administrators were dedicated to helping my son thrive. Their solutions to issues were creative and flexible. Parent involvement was high, especially in lower grades. I feel they did an excellent job preparing my son for middle school, which he started this year.

As someone who attended La Scuola from Kindergarten to 8th grade, this school was an overall very bad experience for me. Many of my peers were bullied a lot and while it was obvious, they let the teachers and staff know about it, but majority of the time no action was taken and they didn't show that they cared at all. From what I can remember, about maybe 4 of my teachers were actually teaching the best that they could and putting maximum effort into their jobs. I barely learned anything there, and as soon as I switched schools, I started excelling in my classes. The curriculum is very disorganized and the homework piles up very quickly because the teachers barely consider the fact that students have lives outside of school. The classes are so small that you are basically forced to be friends with everyone in your grade, even if you aren't fond of them.

I firmly believe that Sacred Heart played a critical role in making me the confident, caring, and hardworking person that I am today. The teachers at CSH care about every student and really work to nurture us into the leaders of tomorrow. I will always be grateful that my parents sent me to Sacred Heart.

SIL is an amazing school. If you believe in disciple, hard work, accountability and structure, you will be very happy with SIL. The principal Mary Larkin protects and supports the teachers by not allowing parents unfettered access to either the classrooms or the teachers. Her position, and SIL's verifiable track record of success can demonstrate, is that they know how to best educate your child in the classroom, and this is best accomplished by eliminating disruptions from parents. The negative comments about the principal Mary Larkin are probably from "helicoptor/everybody gets a trophy" parents, that want to participate and have active roles in the teaching of their children. If this is you, then SIL will not be a good fit.

My daughter has been at Marymount since kindergarten. There are fabulously wealthy people there, girls whose parents are paying tuition instead of saving for retirement, and there are girls on financial aid. Your economic status has no bearing on how your daughter is treated by the school or the opportunities she receives at school. The friendship groups go across economic, racial, and religious lines. The school encourages each girl to succeed overall while reaching her highest point in the subjects that matter most to her - whether it is science or art or music or writing, There are numerous opportunities to excel in your passion or to try out several things until you find your passion. The character and poise of Marymount graduates speak for the school.
