It's a great community and wonderful educational institution . Very sincere and dedicated teachers . All teachers are very loving and committed to their job . I love the management , PTA and staff . We are very lucky our child studies here .
Posted by a parent on 5/22/2016We love PS89! I have two sons at the school and both are thriving. The teachers are great, principal is involved and warm, PTA is unbelievable and the community is incredible! We feel lucky to be part of such an wonderful school.
Posted by a parent on 1/27/2016Why on earth does this school have a 10 rating? Except for its physical appearance the true rating should be no more than 5. Leadership is poor, curriculum is poor, atmosphere is dull. So glad be won't be back next year.
Posted by a parent on 5/5/2014PS89 is a wonderful school. My oldest son is in 2nd grade and has been attending PS89 since kindergarten. My youngest is in Kindergarten there and has attended PS89 for Pre-K as well. Ronnie, the principal, knows every student by name and most parents too. She is kind, loving and respectful to them

8/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageUnfortunately after Covid this school has been is considerable decline as far as teachers and overall staff. They just don’t care about the students. My kids have been at this school since preK and now in middle school. Extremely high turnover for teachers. All the best ones left during Covid. There’s no real education. Everything is very disorganized in every subject. There’s no textbook or basic handouts for studying. They set them up for failure and then wonder why these kids are failing! The teachers have to take some accountability here as well. It feels like the kids are just being moved along through the system but they aren’t even able to do basic things that they should have already learned in previous grades. This school is very disappointing. Just because it’s in an expensive neighborhood don’t be fooled. Most parents don’t even know what’s happening.
