this school is the most trash school in all of manhattan

Arthur Tappan 46 is not in a rich neighborhood, so the best education is not to be expected. From my experience it is a TACTLESS environment. My child complained daily about the profanity and rude remarks made by the 7th grade math teacher Wilson and did not do well overall and emotionally at the school. This school and its principal condone the yelling and negligence of some of the teachers by not requiring them to practice common or healthy communication skills as adults. The school does not work with us as parents so that we can mutually do the best we can at encouraging our children towards promotion or at helping them gain a proper understanding of what is expected of them as a student's/child. Schools have zones but if you can change schools, your child would benefit.

My child won’t be back. This school has been traumatizing. The teachers bully the students and cuss them out. They do not prioritize keeping the children feeling safe and secure. The teachers alone bully the students .

This school is unsanitary and they always get people in trouble for no reason or get people in trouble when it was someone else's fault and they do not review camera footage unless a incident was reported and they end up having to review it and when you get in trouble they do not let you explain your point of view and none of the students like the school and the teachers almost never update the parents with their child grades only thing they rarely do is update them on their behavior and some teachers let the kids wrestle and its either the teachers are too strict or not strict at all which ruins you're experience in the school the teachers are respectful and supportive but its mainly the school aids that are rude or too strict the teachers are alright.

As a student who was at this school for over 10 years it is horrible. I personally was a victim of parents gossip and children’s bullying. The teachers play favorites and gossip about their own classes infront of kids. As someone who had mental health issues this school is so ineffective at helping kids it’s almost as if they don’t care. They are all talk of how they handle bullying but never have actually done anything to help the students. I would never want my child in an environment dreading school not because they are learning but because of the people they see in the building. It is run down and that includes keeping girls and boys bathrooms door’s open so people can see inside. Female teachers have entered boy’s restrooms. Girl students are denied feminine hygiene products and are denied access to the bathroom. They try and teach, Key word TRY. We have terrible clientele and accept kids who have been to juvenile detention centers and do not help fix their problematic behavior. This school has recently in my time here had a child with a weapon and tried to use the weapon. Kids are harassed constantly and there is only a few teachers who support you. This school is only okay if you need a temporary place, would not recommend from the stories of a former student.
