My special needs kid attended PS 6 from kindergarten through fifth grade. His experience was outstanding on the whole. The vast majority of teachers and administrators were dedicated to helping my son thrive. Their solutions to issues were creative and flexible. Parent involvement was high, especially in lower grades. I feel they did an excellent job preparing my son for middle school, which he started this year.

Embarking on our six-year journey at Rudolf Steiner School, we discovered more than just an educational institution; we found a vibrant community deeply invested in every child's success. This nurturing environment seamlessly blends academic rigor with a supportive ethos, fostering a love for learning and personal growth. Steiner's holistic curriculum, integrating arts and practical skills into traditional subjects, challenges students while honoring their individuality.At Steiner, education transcends textbooks, nurturing students' emotional, intellectual, and social development. Beyond academics, the curriculum instills practical skills, ethical reasoning, and a robust moral compass. This holistic approach prepares students not only for academic success but also equips them with the resilience and integrity needed to navigate life's complexities.Steiner's commitment to well-being extends to its food program, where locally sourced ingredients transform into delectable meals. From scratch-made dishes to outdoor play and exploration, Steiner prioritizes physical health, creativity, and a deep connection to nature. These experiences enrich our child's journey, fostering a profound appreciation for the world around them.Recognizing the importance of mindful technology consumption, Steiner implements Slow Tech guidelines, promoting balanced screen time and minimizing social media exposure for students. This school is overrated, in my opinion. Teachers are condescending and insensitive. They ignore any other viewpoint but their own. My son was treated horribly and singled out frequently. A student who does not fit their definition of a model student is ridiculed and given no opportunity for growth. If I could, I would rate this school less than one (1) star. It's such a nightmare. The school camouflages its shortcomings with a technology-free zone, outdoor lunches, and gym classes in Central Park to hide its fundamental shortcomings of inadequate teaching and a subpar facility.
