Silas Wood 6th Grade Center

Oakwood is the primary (k-2) for this address. Countrywood is the other primary center. All of the South Huntington School District schools are excellent with excellent, progressive teachers. Some parents may be angry with some of the administrators or teachers, so they will give this district a low grade.... do not pay attention to those low grades.

We moved from Texas to Long Island in the middle of our daughter's 7th grade school year. During our search for her school, we were fortunate to find Long Island School for the Gifted. Our daughter was accepted based on her credentials. She was welcomed by her classmates and teachers on her first day at school and our daughter never felt that she was a new student. We were so happy with the friendly and supporting environment of the school. We were able to discuss our daughter's progress and performance with the class teachers and the principal of the school during PTC or via emails or phone calls. They (Teachers and Staff) were extremely cooperative. They have provided excellent guidance and advice. Our daughter loves environment. The School principal and science teacher had provided significant assistance to establish the environmental club and encouraged the members to participate in various environmental related activities and seminars. In our opinion, we had made one of the best choices in our life by selecting the LISG for our daughter's education.
