Posted by a parent on 6/14/2018I have four children who have attended/are currently attending Purchase School. I have had one, two or three kids there continuously since 2008. It's a great place. In all my years there, I have only ever been unhappy with one teacher. So many wonderful, warm teachers. The new principal is very good. The kind of guy who kneels down to speak to kids at their level. I'm happy with some of the small changes he has made since he started in 2015. The class sizes are very good. The number of young children in the area has gone down considerably in recent years, so the school is nowhere near its peak enrollment back in 2008. My kids have had classes as small as 16 students and the largest ever was back in 2008, with 24 kids. Most years they had 19-21 kids in their class. Three of my children have needed extra support (from reading help to speech therapy to separate special education classroom), and the school is accommodating and flexible.
Posted by a parent on 1/30/2017It WAS a great school, then greedy developers built the Park Lane Reserve, which is in WEST HARRISON( Preston territory but these folks think their feces doesn't stink and are entitled to go to Purchase) and had nasty spoiled"noueveau riche" kids bussed in...The parents and these kids are in for a rude awakening when they get into middle school and high school as no one is going to kiss up to them there! This was such a small warm wonderful place ...then came Park Lane...UGGGH!No worries if you're wealthy though, your kid will make the right contacts in this school!
Posted by a parent on 1/13/2017Great teachers, well organized, private-school class size. They employ a good deal of technology and are concerned with children's safety, sometimes to the extent of being overly procedural. The only downside is the PTA which seems sometimes to cater to the needs of a high-end demographics, in that it is not very sensitive to the participation of working parents.

N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageWhile we are saddened to remove our daughter from friends and families she has grown close to over the years, our recent experience with the administration and members of the faculty has demonstrated how unfit their program is to educate, protect, and nurture the young minds within their walls. I am appalled by the way in which I was spoken to on multiple occasions with both Directors. I hope this review prevents at least one family from my horrible experience. Do not let them pull the wool over your eyes. The school is based on nepotism and inexperienced superficial administrators.Parent Review3y ago - Sacred Heart Greenwich

N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageSacred Heart Greenwich is an amazing place. The warmth you feel upon entering is palpable, from the girls to faculty and staff. They educate the girls in a faith based environment to become stewards of the world with integrity, a cooperative spirit, and a strong moral compass. A comprehensive interdisciplinary academic curriculum provides ample opportunities for excellence and leadership. Sacred Heart Greenwich educates and develops girls to have the courage and confidence to stand boldly and live meaningful lives.Parent Review1y ago - German International School New York

N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageWe are a German-American family with two children who have attended GISNY since 2015. We initially wanted to continue their solid foundation in the German language as we moved here from Germany when they were in elementary school. We also immediately fell in love with the park-like school grounds, open space and friendly building (since then upgraded with a new cafeteria, library and science wing).Over the past 8 years the welcoming atmosphere and warm community have become a big part of our family life. The school leadership is genuinely committed to creating an environment of open communication and are actively involved in making the school a safe and enriching environment. We were especially impressed with their handling of COVID with a quick switch to rigorous, online learning (for grades 5 and up), clear communication and - once re-opened – diligent yet safe measures so school could remain open throughout the entire 2021/22 school year (while many of our friends’ schools kept closing). For little kids during COVID, the school expanded on the German method of “Wald-Kindergarten” – in which all classes and activities for preschoolers are held outdoors and focus on nature and play. The middle and upper school curriculae are challenging with a broad focus on science. Compared to US high schools there is a greater range of subjects and more school hours per day. Small class sizes help kids and teachers collaborate effectively and create a conducive learning environment. The combination of a German International Abitur plus a U.S. high school diploma prepares students well for any path in higher education as demonstrated by the many recent graduates who now study in various places in the US and Europe. Due to the nature of an international school there is a fair amount of student turn over, with families coming and going on a regular basis. While it’s been hard for our kids to see people leave they also start to see that they now have friends all over the world. The connection of former GISNY students and families is strong. Now in high school, our kids will likely stay at GISNY until graduation. There is a strong sense of connection and we are certain their time at GISNY will prepare them well for whatever is next.Parent Review5mo ago
