Parley Coburn School

I was hesitant to enroll my children in the Elmira City School District when we moved here because of the GreatSchools rating, which was very low. But our experience has been wonderful. The staff are friendly, supportive, and communicative. The kids are happy. They have two playgrounds at the school and two courtyards, so kids regularly get out of class. They have outside organizations come to school to teach the kids art and culture (Rockwell Museum and Chemung Valley History Museum come to mind), which aren't officially part of the curriculum, but the leadership believes that it's important--and so do I. They do field trips to the pumpkin patch in the fall, to the park in the Spring. It really is a great school.

No learning help for children that are disabled you would think that every school would have help for students that have disabilities.

Small classes and hands on learning. Great environment! Caring teachers. Field trips to enhance learning.

Wonderful experience. The small class sizes allow each student the 1 on 1 attention that helps them to succeed.
