Definitely good, but could be better. I'm happy, but would never rave about the school.

My oldest child just finished 3 years at this school and youngest child just started. The first advice we were given came from Principal Poole. She said, "Get your children involved in activities. If they are involved, they won't get into trouble." Multiple clubs to join, sports (some you join in 6th or 7th grade), band, orchestra, and the best activity is the annual musical production. It s all-inclusive. One band director is in charge of this production and he makes sure that anyone who wants to join has a part. Most end up with back up which is perfect for the shy child. It's a 4 month process with practices and a 3-day performance schedule. The kids are tired after each practice and love every minute. They are crying by the end because they don't want it to end. They have an amazing gifted and talented program but if your child doesn't get into it, don't worry because their scores will get them into the honors courses at the Jr High. Education is a major priority at this school and the teachers are amazingly supportive of after-school and outside activities! If you're thinking of moving here, I would definitely choose the NSCSD district and get your children involved!

Gillette has some great teachers, BUT watch out this is one of the FASTEST growing districts around. This middle school has 1,300 kids (disregard the computer's numbers). And that is only ONE of the TWO middle schools. Class sizes are WAY too big, and programs are being SLASHED. We had to go to multiple board meeting to support teachers and their positions as well as IMPORTANT positions such as Nurses and SECURITY! Sports are on a pedestal and academics are thrown to the side. They need to break up the schools. TOO MANY kids!! HS has (10-12 grades about 2,500 kids) We are moving to another district to get a smaller class number. The principals don't know my kids here.
