Poor support system for special need children and attention to teacher behavioral issues.

Awesome school! I was hesitant when we were assigned here at first because it was so much larger than the other schools in the district, that was quickly put to rest. The teachers and principals genuinely care about the students and know all of them by name which blows me away! They want to them to succeed and become considerate and caring citizens. Any issues I have had have quickly been resolved and the communication is what I would expect from someone who my child is in the care of.

My two children had different experiences here. My son, who is now in 3rd had a better experience than my daughter, he is great in school, academically and doesn’t have any issues with kids or friends, maybe because he is a laid back kid. My daughter, who is all about friends and chatting, had major issues. She is a great kid, always is looking to be kind to others and just have fun in school, yet there have been some boys that have hit her and said things to her know child should know. I never got a phone call from teachers letting me know what was going on and the principal made excuses upon excuses for bad behavior. I will say Mr. Suddaby, the principal, is the nicest and most compassionate principal you could want, But bullying is supposed to have a no nonsense approach. I feel like he was more about protecting the bully who had problems at home, who has also hit my daughter many times, than my daughter. I had to threaten police before I was taken seriously, and then through Covid, never saw the outcome of it. I had called and had phone meetings several times begging that the principal took the situation seriously. Bottom line, no child should lay their hands on another child or verbally abuse them, no excuses. Academically, we havent had many problems, and it seems like there is some, not a lot, but some extra help if needed through special teachers. I asked both my kids how many starts I Should give this school and my son said zero and so did my daughter. I have heard horrir stories with drugs for The high school On several occasions. Everyone raves about west genesee, but test scores are not all that matters!!! I would rather my kids have kindness and discipline. If you can, live somewhere cheaper and send your kids to private.

This is not a very good school if you have an above average student! Test scores are not very good. Numbers don't lie...Parents who say test scores don't count are in denial!!
