Read what parents are saying about Ps 287 Bailey K AshfordThis school needs new leadership, new support staff and a few new teachers. As a new parent with a child in school for the first time, I have never experienced such an unorganized and unprofessional school. This school is being ran by amateurs and sometimes, the individuals who claim they work there look like people they picked up off the streets. In a school with such a small amount of children there are too many people walking around (without identification) claiming to be support staff. No one ever introduces themselves and they all seem to be involved with the children for one reason or another. At times, when I pick up and drop my child there are so many people just there hanging around (not parents or teachers) in the auditorium doing absolutely nothing but yelling at the kids and pulling them off the lines when they think they've seen their parent. There is no organization and the rules at this school change frequently. One week pick up is at one time. The next week it changes. There is no consistency. Another issue is Communication here is unreliable. Whoever is running their social media and Class Dojo needs to be fired. The informational fliers are never clear and are almost always missing important information such as dates, links, etc. There is so much more I can say but one thing's for sure, we will not be returning to this school for another year. I don't know how or why this school is still open.

As a the Proud Principal of 13K287, I am so impressed with the growth that we have made as a learning community through the pandemic.
Posted by a principal on 7/16/2022This school was a total let down for my daughter as well as myself...prior to attending this school my child was excelling, and as the years went on I slowly watched her grades plummet to an all time low...If only I could turn back the hands of time..smh
Posted by a parent on 4/5/2019Bullying is basically okay within the 3rd grade Principle would rather be catty instead of figure out a solution very sarcastic and unpleasant to speak with. She basically told my child that people are going to call her names and she's just going to have to deal with it. So my child dealt with it by hitting another child out of anger which was absolutely wrong but my thing is she points out everything little thing my child does and focus on that rather than what causes my child to behave the way she does. When I stated that my child will attend a school where the staff is more caring when it comes to bullying she stated that it's going to happen everywhere so good luck with that. I believe she would rather the kids argue and insult each other rather than solve the root of the problem. Extremely dissatisfied and let me add that the kids who are bullying my child are all failing students meanwhile my child is a passing student thanks to myself for being a concerned parent. Bullies bring the school down and staff okaying the bullying only makes it worst GOOD LUCK with placing your child in such environment!
Posted by a parent on 2/28/2017This is an EXCELLENT School. A hidden Gem. The Staff is welcoming and everyone knows your name and your child. A small school with tons of resources. A dedicated staff committed to the kids. The principal is AMAZING! and dedicated to her students and Staff. As soon as you walk in you feel the welcome from everyone. My son has drastically improved in all area.

4/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageMy child has attended this school since 3k , he's now in pre k and I've seen a tremendous growth in him. He exhibits more discipline and more understanding for social rules in bigger environments. Staff has been very helpful and friendly. I've always received daily updates on what my child is learning via classdojo and while most schools still followed a strict covid procedure, this school did their best to safely include parents in their child's learning experience. The school is diverse in ethnicity as well, which is important in NYC.Parent Review1y ago - Greene Hill School

N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI would not recommend this school for kids who have any special education needs, they are not equipped nor have any interest to support children with learning differences. Proper IESP are not formed so kids are often counseled out. Something to take into consideration if your child is not a neurotypical leaner.Parent Review9mo ago - Greene Hill School
