Ps 195 Manhattan Beach

My experience at this school has been a long one. My oldest daughter who is now 23 went to PS 225 starting from the 6th grade and to be honest, I chose this school out of convenience since I had a 5-year-old. I can admit that when my oldest daughter was in this school the communication was poor and the safety agents were super nasty. Fast forward to today, my 5-year-old graduated from the 8th grade in 2021 and my son is now in the 4th grade. The principal we have now does so much for the students I am impressed at how many beautiful changes he has made, with adding programs to the middle school. Giving afterschool support to students who are struggling and giving sports to the students. He brought Russian dual language to the school and VR learning with science and math for middle school. If your child does not go to this school and you are in the neighborhood you should be asking how can your child be enrolled. The staff is helpful and everyone is outside during arrival and dismissal. You will get greeted by a dean, ap, school counselor, or even the principal. There is even a welcoming PTA.

I rate this school average because as long as you are not special needs or need too much help you will survive this school. If you have any type of disability enter at your own risk. I think they are more geared towards learning and intellectual disabilities. If you are on the autism spectrum, I suggest you connect with the school based support team to see if this school is appropriate for you. If not, I suggest you get your child to a neuropsych evaluation to determine where you should go. Otherwise you will spend a lot of time torturing your kid for no reason. I know that you want as parents what is easy for you but unfortunately special education services are farther and it would be best to go farther and make your kids life easier. And if they want to take your ICT services away please speak up because the further your kid goes in school it is going to be difficult for your kid as demands increase.

I recommend this school. The teachers are good. My children have been going to this school for two years. We really like it. I like how they put on shows and invite parents to see their children. It's very interesting.

The school mysteriously brought in an Assistant Vice Principal a month before the school year ends. He has never taught or worked in a school in the U.S, not an issue but should be considered when judging others.. On his first week of work; he believes he knows enough about the school to determine which teachers are worthy of continuing. He tries to intimidate and bully teachers by staring into their classrooms several times per day ( observing shouldn’t feel like harassment). He speaks condescendingly to others.We have had a broken copy machine for a week and it’s the only one on campus, broken smart boards for months, no benefits , low wages yet these issues that lower morale goes unaddressed. The school says it’s multicultural yet there is a very clique like culture which is felt strongly amongst staff. There is a high turnover in staff members. Student body and parents often want students to recieve high grades they didn’t earn and many teachers are let go for standing their ground. The main principal is a good man but his authority is strongly governed by the board members of the school. There has been problems with paychecks in the past ( late, bounced checks etc...) Does this sound right?
