Posted by a parent on 10/15/2019This year has been the worst year ever my child will be leaving this school.
Posted by a parent on 5/10/2018I had previously reviewed this school on September 07, 2014. It is now 3 yrs later and my views have changed somewhat. First of all, the last principal, was a total inexperienced disaster ! The new principal, however, although she did not have a previous principal position, did have an assistant principal position and is doing a great job. She has reinstated the open door policy which is great. The parent coordinator is great. As far as the building itself, the school has gone through some major maintenance in the past couple of years which is always a welcome situation. The school will be getting a major yard face-lift in the coming year complete with playground, real live trees and sitting benches! That is something to look forward to. Most of the rest is the same as my last review a few years back...As with any "institution" you will have some experienced and committed staff members and you will also have some that leave a lot to be desired. Overall they are decent. I give them 3 stars, maybe 4. Next... Arts, physical Ed, extracurricular activities and after-school programs... Often overlooked by many schools, yet, very important for the development of our children. Once again a major plus for the school choir which is very well managed and produces beautiful performances. My child tried out but did not make the cut which is fine. My child will try out again. Meanwhile, my child did join the band. The school band is below standards. My child is not necessarily learning music and performances are lackluster and the members often do not enjoy what they perform. Lunch leaves a lot to be desired, just terrible food! I now raise my star rating mostly because of the new principal. I give it 3 stars instead of the old 2 stars!
Posted by a parent on 2/6/2018Our school has a great pre-K program. We have a well established Dual Language program, we specialize in working with English Language Learners and we go above and beyond in our efforts to support our students with disabilities.

2/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThe Principal is very loving, professional & respectful. So far my daughter enjoys attending school. & loves all her teacher's. She's learning new concepts daily. Mrs Alvarez & Mrs Gripping were her teachers in 2nd grade and she spoke highly of them. They are great experienced educators. My super girl is excited about 3rd grade. Ps: to the staff,, keep up the amazing work you all do on a daily basis. Overall Terrific school!Parent Review5y ago - Ps 147 Issac Remsen

3/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI've never encountered such a toxic school environment, we ended up leaving the school after many years of enduring such a terrible school. Principal Noyola is a grossly incompetent, manipulative and gaslit parents and students when issues are raised saying that things didn't/weren't happening. IEPs for multiple families we know were not honored. The teachers were verbally abusive to the students by yelling, threatening students with punishments, name calling, withholding recess and activities. The administration destroyed the Japanese Dual Language Program by not supporting the program that was led by such a warm and enthusiastic teacher. At our time there many teachers quit because of how toxic and punitive the admin was to its own staff. They encouraged bullying by creating a toxic and competitive environment among students. Leaving the school, was like leaving an abusive relationship. DO NOT SEND YOUR CHILDREN HERE.Parent Review4mo ago - Ps 196 Ten Eyck

2/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageExtremely disappointed in the lack of knowledge and experience from staff in registration department. I reached out starting February 2022 to enroll my son in school. No one called me back or made an attempt to have my son join the waiting list. I attended this school many many years ago. I am beyond disappointed. Do yourself a favor if the school staff and officials do not find it important to communicate with the parents during enrollment process. It is very clear your child will not be receiving the attention nor education they deserve to move them forward and prepare them for the future.Parent Review1y ago - Ps 274 Kosciusko
