Posted by a parent on 6/25/2018A student makes a school, not the other way around. This school has an awesome educational model, and a principal that is priceless. It's there for your child (and my child). But Education starts at home. You do your part, you read with them, you do their homework with them, you get them ready to learn, you get them there, this school will do the rest.
Posted by a parent on 1/6/2015The school curriculum stinks. When my oldest son went there over 10 years ago, he was an awersome student. Then the educators changed everything to balanced literacy and everyday mathematics. My middle son and youngest son have had nothing but problems with that stupid curriculum. The teachers are TEACHING TO THE TEST......They are filling the students with junk for the state exams.....my son forgot how to multiply and divide because they are shoving the test junk down his throat EVERY DAY!!!!!!! Kids are supposed to be learning in school..........not having to go to after school tutoroing to learn how to multiply and divide and to spell. Bring back old school teaching and learning!!!!!
Posted by a parent on 6/12/2012I have really been pleased with everything I have come to realize about this school and really have had nothing but positive experiences over this past school year. I have to say that I am extremely thankful to the school for being a big reason for the great strides my somewhat shy daughter has taken during this 1st year socially as well as academically. All in all for this first kindergarten year I would have to say it has been an A rated experience!
Posted by a parent on 6/11/2012My child use to attend this school. Overall most of the teachers are pretty good. The school does have some pretty good programs and if you have the perfect child everything is great. If your child is not perfect on their standards, they tend to be labeled as a trouble maker no matter what the situation is. The principal is a smart business woman but needs to learn how to be less condescending and less abrasive (less shouting when reprimanding) to your child when you are not around. It takes more than business smarts to know how to work with every type of child . Her job is to help mold and put structure into them not to ruin their self esteem.

My parents could not afford to send me to a parochial high school, but when I got to a city high I was like a genius compared to others attending. This is a direct reflection of the education I received at OLG. I am still friends with my first grade buddy, we live in different states and get together regularly. The memories last forever. N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageIts been years since I pulled my son out of this school and we are still dealing with the trauma he experienced at only 2.5 years old. The teacher was simply unexperienced and overwhelmed. My child did not feel loved. Not sure what the expectations are for preschool but their classroom rules were extremely severe. I was sent snippy notes and ridiculous things- my kid drooled or left crumbs! The teacher was not meant for that grade. Due to her own lack of capability she resorted to threats about my son getting evaluated. If your child is not cookie cutter - do not go here! Here’s the update, my son now age 6 is being assessed for a gifted and talented program. She couldn’t have been more wrong or useless. Horrible teacher and horrible human being.
