6/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageWorsest school in Brooklyn. Teachers don't care what is going on in the class, no homework whatsoever, very poor teacher- parent communication. No matter how hard I tried to make a connection with teacher all my attempts are failed. For 2 years that my son wasted at this school at the age of 7 he wasn't able to read, write or do basic math, I had to teach him myself every single day after school and see a very good outcome.Parent Review2y ago - Ps 194 Raoul Wallenberg

5/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageMy Experience ia horrible. The teachers lie and dont teach my child properly. I asked one of my daughter's teachers yes plural considering they can seem to keep one constant teacher are you using the notebooks i sent. She stated yes and when i picked them up they were empty. Then claim they will be using hand writing books but sent them home and have yet to be put to use. They also put my childs health at risk by taking my child outside in 40 below degree weather with just a tee shirt on during a fire drill and act like thats ok. This school proves to be disorganized and non caring for my childs well being. Never had i ever had this problem or seen this in any of my other childrens schools. If i could change my 5 yr old daughter school i would. A matter of fact if i can please tell me how bc she is zoned here.Parent Review3y ago - Ps 277 Gerritsen Beach

6/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageDr. Vlantis does not effectively deal with bullying in the school. OORS reports are not generated as they are supposed to be. When I insisted on one for an issue, the "investigation" was conducted with "witnesses" in the same room as the bully as they were writing statements. Any person with common sense can tell you that that is the most ineffective way to conduct an investigation. But, it served the school because then on paper, there was no bullying. No justice at all for the student who is bullied. Students who complain are made to feel like they are lying and over exaggerating.Other Review3y ago - Yeshiva Ruach Chaim

N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThe school environment is just near inhospitable. The faculty considers themselves family-oriented, but it’s clear there’s some “nepotic-like” actions going on and they focus on protecting themselves more than the students. There are students who were emotionally distressed, learning without adequate reinforcement, subtle and sometimes clear acts of discrimination towards students, disciplinary actions showcased by the teachers that were not “student-friendly,” and parents who were sometimes misinformed about what’s really going on at the Academy. Speaking of teachers, if berating and embarrassing the students - both physically and mentally - are considered motivational, then that what what I saw - and A LOT of it.The few saving graces, however, were the special education teachers as well as some of the parents and very few awesome teachers; those few people just get how education works - even though the majority of the staff can’t get out of their little bubble. They get that some things have got to change at the Academy, but the faculty were refusing to “see the light” - and still don’t. Unless you want your child to enroll in a school this close-minded and bent on strictness, I wouldn’t recommend this school. Their namesake is not being upheld - not by a long shot.Other Review5mo ago - Yeshiva Of Kings Bay
