My child went to this school last year and I was very unsatisfied. The leadership is very poor. Many of the staff members are older mean, rude and harsh when speaking and disciplining the students. There was only one school safety agent in the whole entire school. Also, the school didn't like parents coming to visit their child in the classroom. There was no extracurricular activities in the school such as basketball, art, dance, steelpan or music. The principal was very unwelcoming, unapproachable and unfriendly. I am so happy my child goes to a better school in another district.

P.S. 221 is a Hip2B Healthy School. They offer programs to teach children about health living and eating right in addition to their normal educational programs. I attended one of the events for families where there was a chef from a three star restaurant teaching children how to cook healthy. The meal also was also delicious. More over, the principal at this school is very attentive and helpful to the students and their parents.

The principal is an ineffective leader who does not create a warm, welcoming environment. She yells at parents when they advocate for their children and even yells at parents during meetings. She is unapproachable and as long as she remains the principal of this school, enrollment will never increase.

Poor academic. Classes are overcrowded, not enough teachers: half of the school year did not have a math teacher! Bullying! Do not attend!
