Read what parents are saying about East Middle SchoolNow for my black daughter to be there for not even two months has been a target with disrespectful staffs who yells demands respect but don't give it and my daughter has came home crying everyday they gaslight and treat them kids like it's a detention center then school I am very disappointed My daughter who has a IEP hasn't learned anything...THEY PICK ON KIDS WHO ARE NOT A THREAT AND GASLIGHT BULLIES KID'S INSTEAD OF TEACHING THEY BRING THEY PROBLEMS TO WORK
Posted by a parent on 10/20/2023Worst school ever! Communication is few and far between. Their conflict resolution is unheard of. Their teachers well majority are only there for their paycheck and have no respect for anyone. But will demand respect. Administration believes that its ok to use their own (not trained) version of physical restraints on children of whom are no threat. Do not send your child here

1/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageMy child attends this school and we have had nothing but positive experiences with the staff. They have been very invested in my son's education and have worked with him to get an education that matches his level of understanding in each subject. Teachers are communicative and helpful with answering questions. The principal has always been responsive to questions in a timely and polite fashion.Parent Review6mo ago - Calvin Coolidge School

4/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI cannot speak to grades K-5, but can say that the Pre-K program is absolutely awful. My daughter came home filthy every day, her clothes ripped and stained. New shoes covered in black scuffs, all of this after playing INSIDE the classroom. The carpets haven’t been cleaned in god knows how long, you can tell from looking at them. You are not allowed to pack your child a lunch, but they will serve them frozen uncrustables (pb&j) and things your child may refuse if they’re picky like mine.My daughter was miserable, heartbreaking to a parent as a first time school experience for their child. Other children would hit and bully my child (over her SNEAKERS, at 4 years old) and the teachers never once let me know or seemed to do anything about it. I never got updates on my daughter, was never told if she was hurt in class, zero communication with the “teacher”, who was disorganized and out of touch with the parents. The day I enrolled my daughter in a different school, I could not WAIT to pick her up from that awful classroom. Compared to her school now, Horace Man’s pre-k program is akin to a poorly ran, filthy daycare. It seemed nice during orientation, boy were we wrong. Her artwork has gone from scribbles to beautiful drawings, her math skills are amazing for a child her age, and she’s learning Spanish & sign at her new school. I give zero credit to Horace Man’s pre-k program, it feels like months wasted where she could’ve been receiving a real education.Parent Review11mo ago - Macarthur School

2/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI have nothing but great things to say about MacArthur! Our experience has been positive-I know my children are receiving a terrific education! Parent involvement is encouraged, teachers Are professional, knowledgeable & show true concern and care for students and Mrs. McIver, the principal sets the tone for the building. It is one based on mutual respect and high expectations for all.Parent Review5y ago - Theodore Roosevelt School

2/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThe bottom of the barrel. Don't listen to the administrations defensive spiel about how well they do with so little. It's a really lousy school. A really lousy curriculum. There is nothing the good teachers can do to make it a better place. The curriculum is terrible. The longer your kid is in the Binghamton school system the further behind the kid will be compared to those enrolled in school districts in communities that are not failing. Binghamton City is an economically depressed dump with no hope for anything better and that rubs off on the kids too. It's is dead end for kids. Kids who would have gotten into the best colleges in the country had they been enrolled in a decent school system end up at BCC if they are lucky or as DO's if they aren't. The kids classified as poor and underserved in other communities do better than those from wealthy homes in Binghapit. Kids learn nothing there. The longer your kid is in the Binghamton school system the further behind they are compared to kids in reasonable communities outside the Southern failing tier. Vestal isn't better. All the schools are deficient but Binghamton is the most deficient. if you care about your kid, you'll put your child into a better system. Unfortunately it's nearly 100 miles to any that are better. Failing communities have failing schools and failing kids. Binghamton schools are backwoods, backwards and horrific.Parent Review1y ago - St John The Evangelist School

N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageOur daughter went to St Johns from first thru the six grade. Many times her classes were at least a year ahead of the same classes her friends going to public school were taking. Class sizes were small, often half the size of public schools, enabling teachers to give more individual attention to each student, The work was rigorous but not overwhelming, and the atmosphere was a lot nicer than I remember public school ever being. And most importantly I believe going to St Johns helped lay the foundation for our daughters future educational endeavors by giving her not just a top notch education but by giving her all the great memories that came with those first school years. The talent contests, the poetry recital contests, the field trips and so much more. It was a great school.Parent Review1y ago
