Read what parents are saying about Albany Community Charter SchoolI agree with the last post this place seemed alright at first. Looks can be deceiving unchecked bullying favoritism. New kids will get that unwanted treatment while staff looks away. Don’t be fooled by the Facebook smiles and select students photos. This place uses various good ol’ boy tactics to make your stay unpleasant if they feel your not playing ball. Parents especially of interracial children very light skinned children this is hostile environment. Expect your child to be subject to extreme verbal bullying name-calling each and every day in class. This school likes to use the you know how kids are excuse. My kid went from happy to demoralized overnight. Look at the reviews and local news reports.

I'd hoped that it would encourage them to be proud of their biracial ethnicity and be confident and appreciate their differences, as well as receive a proper education. Sadly this is not the case. My children were ridiculed for being light of complexion by other students, when on occasion they were called white and the issues are never properly addressed. Im so very disappointed and I will be removing them from this school next year.
Posted by a parent on 10/26/2022EXECELLENT SCHOOL! here's just the facts: longer school days (7:30- 3:45 ) 4 year olds can enter Kindergaten if they will be 5 before mid December; all children will be able to read before they move to 1st grade; Teachers will reach out to you if your child is struggling to come up with joint options; Principals, Deans and all Admin.Staff will know every child's name; Positivity reinforcement through school spirit ; high standards - ALOT OF HOMEWORK; Uniforms (everyday) This school is the best the albany area has to offer. Your Child will be on par academically and socially with Niskayuna and Bethleham school districts

The teachers come early and stay late. They make sure the kids work hard, celebrate themselves, and keep a strong sense of pride. Whether your an advanced student or a struggling student, you are guaranteed to get the best education at this school.

I am a legal professional and have consulted with a family regarding their child's experience at Albany Academy. What I have heard from this family regarding the treatment of their child has propelled me to warn other families. The school offers top notch academic and arts programs. However, their approach to the social and emotional well being of their students can only be viewed (in my opinion) as irresponsible and actually unsafe. If your child struggles with making friends, feeling or looking 'different' or has a history of being bullied I would STRONGLY suggest that you find another spot for your child.
