Read what parents are saying about Reno High SchoolTerrible administration, ridiculous approach to scheduling any testing, teachers are overworked, overwhelmed, and undependable.
Posted by a parent on 5/8/2018It is a good school but the whole "zero tolerance" of bullying is definitely not that it is "okay you did this don't do it agian and they go off with a warning and not a punishment " and this is for all schools across the board and it's the fact that the people who get hurt emotionaly or physically get hurt again and it makes me sick to my stomach that the "zero tolerance" is really "we tolerate it till it gets serious"
Posted by a community member on 10/20/2016The high rating of this school makes me question if this site is valid or not. To begin, there is no parent involvement, the students are rude and disrespectful, and the school even allows a place where kids can go skip class and smoke if they want. Also, the "common core" program is completely detrimental to a student's education experience, with it's ridiculous standards. Furthermore, the teachers don't care about the students at all, and only want to make themselves look good for a decent pay check. Now, let's delve down into the core "values" of the school. Respect? The kids have no respect for anyone, not even themselves. Honor? Little to nonexistent. Strength? Academically and in sports, there isn't any. Don't waste your time considering this school, it's only a mediocre at best public school.
Posted by a student on 7/30/2015This is an amazing school. The teachers and support staff do a wonderful job of being involved in the students lives. Sure, there are some issues with certain kids, just like in every school. People seem to believe that the school is where kids might pick up bad habits, but that starts in the home. At Reno High, it has always been the cool thing to be smart. There is enormous competition between the AP students to see who can do better. No one should ever feel left out, Reno High celebrates everything from Academics, Art, Theater, Band, Orchestra, Sports, ROTC, and any and all in between. It is a family, all Huskies belong to it.
Posted by a community member on 6/5/2015The fact that Reno High has a high rating on Great Schools makes me question the validity of the site. RHS used to be a good school, unfortunately it is mediocre at best. The bar has been dropped very low - raising it's test scores, athletics run the school and fights/incidents are not reported much less dealt with on a regular basis if at all.

8/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI used to go to this school, and my siblings are currently here. They love going to school, and their teachers are amazing and work super well with the kids! The older kids, while they might start going through puberty and mood swings, still enjoy going here and would love to go here again!Other Review11mo ago - Jessie Beck Elementary School

8/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThe teachers are wonderful and so are the students. The principal is the problem. She’ has zero empathy or compassion. She only cares about herself. My daughter was attending the school and during the middle of first grade she had to leave because we weren’t zoned for the school anymore because of a move. Erin doesn’t accept variances whereas other principals throughout the area do. I wish that school had a nice principal. If it did it would be an amazing schoolParent Review1y ago - Veterans Memorial Elementary School

9/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI was surprised to see the exemplary reviews because that was not our experience at Mt Rose. Our son is high-functioning autistic and rather than giving him the support he needed, they simply pushed him through to each grade level. When they would not allow him to be held back, we discussed getting him specialized tutoring to help lessen the gap between our son's performance and grade level. The principal, Ms. Brown told us, "you can get all the tutors you want but it's not going to make a difference." After hearing that, it was no small wonder why he wasn't getting the support he should have. Fortunately, we had an outstanding 5th grade teacher, who made a huge difference. I understand that teacher recently left the school. Despite living four blocks from Mt. Rose, our son was "not selected" to go to his elementary school for 6th grade and now has to ride the bus to Swope. Of course, he was notified at school before we were and he called us in hysterics. Three generations of our family went to Mt Rose. A few years ago, we actively advocated in the community with others to not tear it down. Now I kind of wish they had.Parent Review9mo ago - St John's Children's Center
