Read what parents are saying about North Star Elementary SchoolTeachers are hit and Miss, some great some terrible. Principal (Ms. Smith) is unwelcoming, rude and dismissive and openly favors some kids and parents over others. It is her poor example and favoritism that creates a poor environment unless you are one of her chosen few. Really looking forward to my kids moving in from this regime.
Posted by a parent on 3/20/2022My child felt intimidated by the teacher and was afraid to ask questions. Classroom sizes are huge and everyone wants to go there. They cannot handle the students they have. DO NOT GO HERE!
Posted by a parent on 4/30/2019My child's teacher is terrible. Seems constantly overwhelmed and is very defensive. Has yelled at the children in her class and will punish the entire class for one kids behavior. She is completely disengaged and has no follow through. The community is nice and the other parents are as well. I hope we get a better teacher next year.

9/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThis school is a wreck. They discriminate against children with disabilities, and they do not provide any emotional support to the children. The teachers leave in droves, which I can only assume is in response to the principal. The principal has no interest in engaging the parents, and if you even attempt to ask her a question, she will make you feel like dirt. Unfortunately, this school has only continued to deteriorate by the year. There is no sense of community, and parent involvement is unwelcome. While the school boasts good test scores, that is simply a product of the neighborhood and the families that live in the neighborhood. When you have a school located in an affluent neighborhood, good test scores are inevitable - doesn't reflect at all on this school. Unless you want to pay for years of therapy for your child, avoid Hubert Humphrey.Parent Review1y ago - Edmund G Ross Elementary School

8/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThis school has great facilities: wonderful library, big open cafeteria, great playground, large classrooms, newly xeriscaped front landscaping, and pleasant kid-friendly hallways. My kids had good experiences in learning and making friends here and they had some terrific teachers (with one exception). The school also has after-school programs, both daycare and enrichment, and opens up the facilities for community groups for kids like scouting. Prospective parents should not hesitate to get involved with the PTA, volunteer in the library, and participate in school activities like the balloons and burritos breakfast, jog-a-thon, geography bee, and Missoula Theater plays.
