Read what parents are saying about Ventnor Middle SchoolAvoid this school if you have a child with special education needs. Toxic leadership that will send your child out of the district if you advocate for our child.
Posted by a parent on 3/16/2023This school is horrible starting with its’ leadership. The principal. My child’s first year there (6th grade) was harmful to her.The reading material given to her was depressing and inappropriate for her age. No inspirational stories, all doom and gloom in the worst possible ways. One story had a child suffer paralysis and her dog murdered and drowned. I had to have her removed from a class because the teacher was inappropriate, and asked her to lie as part of an assignment. And that’s putting it mildly. They included horror stories of the China Dynasties I. Her lessons without even showing them where China was on a map. Decapitation of children included in those stories. Similar lessons on Sharia Law. For 11 year olds. One of the teachers aids was just off the wall and not qualified. Most there are not qualified. It’s where they send the worst of them to hide I guess. My daughter hurt her back in gym class. Gym Teacher had them doing sit up on the cement floor, no pads or support allowed. Restricted their water. I can go and on. We would send my child to private school, but none but Catholic in the area, and we are non- religious. Home school is our only option, and I am almost there.
Posted by a parent on 12/4/202290% of teachers care a lot.a few are just riding out what little time they have left. Leadership of school lacks big-time causing tension between parents staff and students. Situations are handled in a way that harms students mentally

7/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageIf you have children of color, particularly African American learners, please consider other alternatives where your child can go for instruction. This act will avoid being subject to racial bullying and discrimination at the hands and mouths of staff and students, and lack of communication followed with officials advising that they do not always have to notify parents of actions completed against learners. Additionally, please consider not sending your child to this school to avoid false reporting, manipulated and distorted truths, and nepotism within the staffing entity, leading to your concerns not being attended to and instead retaliation. Racial-based biases and fears are projected onto learners of color, thus shifting the engagement of the professional relationship between students and staff present to service. Also, if you'd like to ensure your family is not subject to physical and emotional impact, please consider other educational means. Diversity, equity, and inclusion require ethical and moral practice in tune with being true to what is on paper to be implemented. Let me also state that disproportionate disciplinary action is present within this building. Please make the right decision, as this is not a safe space for students of African American students under the leadership of ineffective and incompetent administration. Not only am I writing this review as a reflection of my experience and others alike with similar themes but others who are afraid to be vocal and opt to relocate. My grievances exhaust beyond this brief summary. Now, if you're comfortable with conforming and lack of advocacy, you and your family may be well due to a lack of plausible resistance. Consider!Parent Review10mo ago - Sovereign Ave School

4/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThey served moldy carrots to my child and serve the same unhealthy sandwiches. (food variety & nutrition is lacking) Teachers here Also complain when child brings their own food. Finding parking is a mess considering they close off empty parking lots. My child being hit by another classmate when the teacher leaves room is another reason why safety is rated lowParent Review9mo ago - Chelsea Heights Elementary School

N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageOur daughter is enrolled in the Pre K program at Our Lady Star of the Sea. In a few short months we have been blown away by the dedication and support of the teachers and the staff. We are very impressed by the strength of the curriculum as well. As a young 4 y/o our child has been working on her beginning letter sounds and is now even starting to blend her sounds and is so eager to read. She have learned so much that she loves sharing with her family such as the history of fire engines and fire safety during Fire Prevention Month to today's breakfast lesson to her dad about the importances of Election Day and Voting. Not to mention, our hearts melt when we overhear her practicing all her new prayers in the other room. We are so glad we made the decision to give OLSS a try especially in the world we live today. Our daughter has made beautiful friends who come from beautiful families who not only share the same values of the importance of family but also the importance of the Catholic Identity.Parent Review1y ago - St. James Elementary School
